- "We must reaquire Katherine Brewster."
- "Why? What makes her so god damn important?"
- "Through her, you make contact with remnants of the U.S. military and learn how to fight Skynet, forming the core of the Resistance. Later your children will become important."
- "Whoa. What?"
- "She's your wife."

She worked as a veterinarian before her office was destroyed by the T-X. She was then captured by another Terminator (the T-850 played by Arnold Schwarzenegger). In the stolen Toyota Tundra pick-up, she first meets John Connor, and he explains the situation, although at first she believes he is insane. It is revealed that she would become Connor's wife and second-in-command. Together they survive the nuclear apocalypse that establishes Skynet's dominance. In an alternate future timeline, she sends back the reprogrammed T-850 which killed her husband to the past, to save him in his youth.

- "What exactly am I in this future of yours?"
- "You're John Connor's spouse and second-in-command."

It is also mentioned in T3 that John Connor was a schoolmate of Kate Brewster during middle school before the two Terminators (the T-800 and T-1000) arrived. This is a classic example of an (acceptable) timeline glitch, since James Cameron supposedly intended for John to have been ten years old in the previous entry, Judgment Day.
The third film also has a few other instances like this (possibly due to director Jonathan Mostow's likely oversight), including Sarah's date of birth and death, and actor Nick Stahl's narration stating his previous age as being 13, when accoring to T2, his year of birth was 1985, and "Rise of the Machines" apparently takes place in 2003.
