Kat Von D

Kat von D (real name: Katherine von Drachenberg) (born March 8, 1982) is a tattoo artist from California. Her father René Drachenberg and her mother Sylvia Galeano were both born in Argentina. René's family origins were German and Sylvia's family origins were Spanish-Italian. Kat was born in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico . At the age of 4 her family immigrated to the United States. She is a featured artist on the Miami Ink reality television show on TLC.

Von D gave her first tattoo, a Misfits skull, at the age of 14. She started working at her first tattoo shop at age 16. She is accomplished at portrait and realistic art with an emphasis on black and gray scale.

When not working at the Miami Ink studio in Miami Beach, Florida she works at the True Tattoo shop in Hollywood, California and Elm Street Tattoo in Dallas, Texas. She has an active touring schedule and is frequently a featured artist at tattooing conferences in the United States and Canada.

She is married to fellow tattooist Oliver Peck.
