[edit] Replaceable Fair Use Disputed

Am disputing that this is fair use image is replaceable - see User:PageantUpdater/Use of Images for discussion as it involves a large number of images. -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 04:39, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

(Copied from there:) The reason I did not delete Image:KatieBlair.jpg was that the image shows her in the 2006 Miss Teen USA pageant, which the article mentions. The image is not only of Ms. Blair; it is also an image of a non-repeatable event. But if the photo were only of Ms. Blair, the image would have to be deleted. – Quadell (talk) (random) 15:29, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't exactly like this kind of outcome. The article indeed mentions the event, but the picture is not "essensial information" in this context. The information "Katie Blair was Miss Teen USA 2006" does not need an image to be complete. The image is being used to illustrate the person, and it's use will make editors lazy to produce a free alternative. I can see a flood of specially selected unfree images to illustrate biographies comming. For instance, instead of soccer players headshots, we will have "this picture of zidane is not repeatable because it was taken during that friendly match..."--Abu Badali 15:44, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
