Kaskus

Kaskus is the largest Indonesian online community.[citation needed] It was established on November 6, 2000, by three Indonesian students (AD, RS, and BD) in the United States. As of August 31, 2006, Kaskus has more than 200,000 members. In August 2005 & September 2006, PC Magazine Indonesia voted Kaskus as The Best Indonesian communities twice (2005 & 2006).[1] Registration is required for new users to participate in the community, and every registered member has the privilege to access more than twenty sub-forums on various subjects. The community runs on the vBulletin forum software.
On 23 May 2006, the internet domain has been changed from .com to .us in response to a computer virus called Brontok that attacked the servers. [1]
The slogan of Kaskus is "fresher everyday with Kaskus".

The name "Kaskus" is a portmanteau for Kasak Kusuk which translates to "gossiping" in English.

Kaskus, like many other online community sites, assigns different user titles to registered members based on how frequently they contribute to the forum.
The user titles are:
- <100 posts - newbie
- 100-499 posts - kaskuser
- 500-749 posts - aktivis kaskus
- 750-999 posts - kaskus holic
- 1,000-3,999 posts - kaskus addict
- >3,999 posts - kaskus maniac
For those who donate for kaskus, the rank will be "kaskus donator". The paid subscribtion costs $3 for 1 month.

KaskusRadio is an Indonesian Internet radio operated by Kaskus. It has more than 10 DJs and serves many kind of music.
