Kasi Maru

Kasi Maru (or Kashi Maru) is a Japanese merchant ship sunk in fifty feet of water in Mbaeroko Bay near Munda during a World War II bombing raid on 2 July 1943. Kashi Maru was built in 1940 at Osaka Iron for Towa Kaiun and was of 654 tons. It is now a popular diving site, and was featured in the Nature episode “War Wrecks of the Coral Seas”.
