Kasai Harunobu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kasai Harunobu warlord of the Japanese province of Mutsu during the Sengoku Period of the 16th century. Harunobu was the younger son of Kasai Harutane and a grandson of Date Tanemune. Harunobu was the holder of the Teraike Castle in the Toyoma district of Mutsu Province. Sadly however, Harunobu came from a family that greatly struggled with internal affairs. Due to this fact Harunobu experienced odds with the Osaki clan and also suffered a rebellion by the Hamada during the year of 1588. At this time the Kasai was more or less just a simple clan of the now very powerful clan of Date. This was mainly through the great efforts of the famous Date Masamune. Following the year of 1590 Harunobu was late to respond to Toyotomi Hideyoshi's demand for him to assist during the Siege of Odawara Castle in Sagami and was deprived of his lands. While hearing of the later exilation of Harunobu, many retainers of the Kasai rebelled and ended up being crushed.
