Kasa-obake

Karakasa (唐傘? "Chinese umbrella"), or Kasa Obake, are a type of Tsukumogami, a form of Japanese Spirit that originate from objects reaching their 100th year of existence, thus becoming animate. Karakasa in particular are Spirits of Parasols (umbrellas) that reach the century milestone. They are typically portrayed with one eye, a long tongue protruding from an open mouth, and a single foot, generally wearing a geta.

- In Gegege no Kitarou, The Kasa-Obake is a central character
- In Azumanga Daioh, Kasuga Ayumu, a.k.a. Osaka-san imagines herself in a Karakasa costume, as well as imagining her fellow classmate, Chiyo-chan, dressed as Nurikabe.
- In Ranma 1/2, Tsubasa dresses up in a giant karakasa costume.
- Karakasa appear as enemies in various video games: Ganbare Goemon, Demon's World, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Parodius Da!, Pocky & Rocky and Ragnarok Online. In Kirby's Dream Land 2 as well as Kirby's Dream Land 3, the Kasa-Obake is a miniboss character called Jumpershoot.
- In Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Karakasa appear on occasion, usually when the situation calls for monsters.
- In Ragnarok Online, Karakasa it's a monster that lives in Amatsu field.
- In the film "Pom Poko," during Operation Specter.
