[edit] SIIEG WikiProject
The acronym SIIEG stands for the Secular Islamic Information Editors' Guild. SIIEG is a writers' guild specifically intended for Wikipedia editors of Wikipedia information relating to Islam.
[edit] Mission Statement
- Develop project-wide policies and accepted practices relating to Islam articles, through our parent project Wikipedia:WikiProject Islam
- Document and include, in a neutral manner, the known objective facts about Islam and related subjects, while ensuring that Islam related articles on Wikipedia are written in an encyclopedic style free from apologetics and non-neutral POV.
[edit] Motto
The Motto of SIIEG is Uberrima fides, meaning "Utmost Good Faith". It is the principal of full disclosure of all material facts and working in good faith at all times.
[edit] SIIEG Policies
SIIEG members should:
-
- be adequately familiar with one or more subjects related to Islam
- abide by the Wikipedia code of conduct including WP:CIV and WP:NPOV
- not have an apologetic point-of-view towards Islam
Any registered Wikipedia editor in good standing may become a SIIEG member.
Although SIIEG carries the word "secular" in its name, SIIEG does not oppose the inclusion of members of any faith, and SIIEG does actively seek Muslim members who can represent traditional Islamic beliefs. The word "secular" in the name "SIIEG" refers to the fact that SIIEG is a secular organization (as opposed to being an Islamic organization).
