IMDb profile |
Karuththamma (1994) is a Tamil feature film directed by Bharathiraja. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by A. R. Rahman. The film deals with a society riddled with female foeticide and the hatred that surrounds the birth of a female child in a cruel world, and the simple realisations of a father that calls on his miseries as the outcome of the birth of his daughters. The movie strums a chord of reality among people that know that the society still lives with a horrid practice and that they can do something about it, if only they tried. A movie that deserved the many awards that it brought home.
