From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Karl Muggeridge is an Australian motor cycle racer, born 20th Apriole 1974 in Tweed's Head. He is married to Isobel, and has one son, Ryan. He won the World Supersport Championship in 2004, and has raced in World Superbikes ever since, joining the Alto Evolution Bertocchi team for 2007.
After several years of Motocross, Muggaz began circuit racing in 1994, finishing 4th in his homealnd's 250cc series a year later on a Suzuki. Over the next 3 years he did an assortment of races around the world, primarily on 600cc Supersport bikes. He was a regular in his home series in 1996 and 1997, and in the British championship for the next 2 years, coming 4th overall in 1999, before moving on to the World Supersport series. He was 5th overall in 2000, 7th in 2001, 14th in 2003 and 4th in 2003, before taking the 2004 crown as the lead rider in Henk Ten Kate's team, with 7 wins and 8 poles.
As luck would have it, Ten Kate expanded his World Superbike team to 2 Honda Fireblade bikes for 2005, and Karl was moved up to join Chris Vermeulen, who won the WSS title for Ten Kate in 2003 and challenged for the WSBK crown as a series rookie in 2004. This proved to be a tough year for Karl - he was 9 places behind Vermeulen in 11th overall. In 2006 a back injury caused him to miss the Valencia round [1] and again failed to score a podium finish, despite strong qualifying runs including 3rd at Brands Hatch. He lost his ride for 2007, and was offered a World Supersport ride by the team, but instead remains in WSBK and on a Honda by joining Bertocchi.
