Karl Henry (born November 26, 1982, Wolverhampton, England) is a professional footballer, playing with Football League Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A midfielder, Henry began his career as a youth player with Stoke City, making his first team debut during the 2001-2002 season, and has been selected for England under 18, 20 and 21 squads. He spent a spell on loan at Cheltenham Town F.C. in the 2002-2003 season, scoring his first professional goal on Boxing Day of the same season against Bradford City A.F.C..
Stoke originally stated that they would release Karl at the end of the 2005/06 season, as he had been in the team's reserves for the majority of the season. However, after a change of management, with Tony Pulis taking charge at the Britannia Stadium, they decided to offer him a new contract. By this time Karl was a free agent, however he was still training with Stoke City. Stoke allowed him to join Wolves on trial and he joined Wolves permanently in August 2006 after Wolves agreed with Stoke a compensation package of £100,000, rising to £175,000 based on appearances, with a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
