Karel Loprais, born in Frenshtat pod Radhoshtem (czech: Frenštát pod Radhoštěm), Czech Republic, on March 4, 1949, made his name principally as a Rally Dakar driver. Karel is a well know Czech rally raid driver and winner of the Rally Paris-Dakar in the truck category, driving TATRA 815 trucks. Karel has won six titles (1988,1994,1995,1998,1999,2001). After his second victory in 1994, other drivers begain calling him "Monsieur Dakar" (czech - "Pan Dakar")[citation needed].
