Mike Sorensen (born February 3, 1980[1] (http://www.broke-off.com)), better known by his nickname "KaptainMyke", is an Internet personality and owner and operator of the Broke-Off humor website. The nickname "KaptainMyke" was from an old Quake handle playing online "Capture the Flag" missions as "KaptainKillgore". Most people online from these gaming servers, and from a car forum named 2gnt.com called him "Kaptain Mike". Mike decided to keep the "Kaptain" part, and change the "i" to a "y" to confuse people. Being his obsession with the comic book super hero "Superman", it just seemed appropriate to have a super hero nickname. In September of 2002, Mike Sorensen started a website named kaptainmyke.com. Mike's sole purpose of this web space was to have a image storage area for his photoshops and comedy battles with his fellow forum peers over at 2gnt. Over the years, the site has grown and become much more than it once was. As a bold move to show his separation from 2gnt.com and it's car members, and also to try and prevent more car nuts coming over to his off-topic and photoshop world on the internet - the site was renamed and moved to a larger server, with it's new appropriate name, broke-off.com. Most people agreed and figured who wants to go to somekidsbasementsite.com, so why not go to something more diverse and widespread for the internet to see and search across.
Originally the page was a largely personal site, in which Mike personally reviewed movies, sites, downloads, and life's problems in general by which he felt were "broke off". In recent years the site has grown slowly, which most say slow growth is stable and steady growth. To offer more versatility to its' public, the site now is offering all types of merchandise such as clothing and gifts and misc items that you can put any photoshopped image on and purchase. There's an online arcade, a place to submit articles for the main page, and much much more. The general premise of this forum on broke-off.com is a place to kick back, relax, free image uploading and hosting, and to make a few online friends along the way. Registration is free and donations are not required but definitely encouraged.
In addition to administrating Broke-Off, he also does a variety of web site projects and database management through the mainstream. Mike also owns http://bargainbuyonline.com and profits from selling advertising and wholesale goods to the general public at crazy prices. Most of the expenses to run both of these projects do not profit him, so most of his accomplishments online are out of charity and comedical value.
Mike proposed to his co-worker at his home in December of 2004, and are to be wed on September 17, 2005. Mike resides with his future bride Jennifer in their home in Houston, TX.
