Kapitan (rank)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kapitan is a common alternate spelling of Captain in other European languages. It usually refers to the rank of Captain which exists in many armed forces.
[edit] Polish Army & Air Force
Kapitan is also a military rank of the Polish Army and Polish Air Force, roughly equivalent to the rank of Captain in armed forces of other states. Kapitan can be understood as the successor rank of Rotmistrz which existed from 15th century to the mid-20th century.
