[edit] Union Party

Thanks for catching my slip-up. I had come across the disambiguation page because I had been looking into Lincoln's National Union Party and I had brain freeze when I was cleaning up the article.

[edit] categories and subcategories

Hi,

I'm glad to see that you are working on categorizing the various spider articles. I got started on that job once, with somewhat the same idea, and got an angry response from someone who had very definite ideas (of his/her own?0 about what was and was not permitted. I was too busy at the time to worry about it, but the basic idea he had seemed to have been that there should not be multiple categories used. My idea was to use nested categories that would basically follow the taxonomy chart so that people could jump from, e.g., Phidippus audax jumping spiders to jumping spidres in general or to "true spiders" or to "spiders in general" without having to laboriously back through the categories somehow. Sometimes rules are made with good intentions and then get used for egocentric reasons.

One of the reasons I originally had for doing things my was was that if every spider picture is categorized as "spider" instead of, e.g., "Genus Latrodectus", then the user will find all the spider pictures in one place. We already have an article/list in the English Wikipedia and an article on Wikipedia Commons that assembles all the spider pictures, and in those places it is possible to arrange them nicely by Family, Genus, species, etc. What do you think?
