Kanwulf is the name of a character on the TV series Highlander: The Series, who is an Immortal.
[edit] History
Kanwulf was born in 802 in Norway. He was a foundling child who later on grew up with a Viking group and became a warrior. He was killed in 834 in a raid in an English town and became Immortal. Kanwulf was found by Hubba, an Immortal who taught him everything about being an Immortal. Later on, Kanwulf met his student, Martin Hyde, in England and became his teacher.
Kanwulf became a conqueror and killer in a Viking group. In 1624, he goes to Scotland in the small village of Glenfinnan and killed many people, including Ian MacLeod, the clan chieftain, who is the father of Immortal Duncan MacLeod. Kanwulf ends up meeting Duncan after his father is killed. For Duncan, at the time having just recently become Immortal, that moment is the first where he would sense the presence of an Immortal. Kanwulf and Duncan fight one another, but unknown to Duncan, the only way for Kanwulf to die is to behead him. Kanwulf is stabbed by Duncan with his sword and is killed. Duncan takes Kanwulf's battle axe and buries it with his father. The battle axe is Kanwulf's most prized possession.
In 1995, Kanwulf returns to Glenfinnan, Scotland to find his battle axe, he kills the priest who is at the local church and assumed the priest's name, Father Laird. Kanwulf decides to dig up the graves to find his axe, he kills some of the locals and some of the things Kanwulf finds, he sells off, like the bracelet that Duncan MacLeod gave to his love, Debra Campbell over 370 years ago. The bracelet was seen at an auction in Paris, France by Duncan MacLeod, which he bought and then returned to Scotland after 250 years away.
Kanwulf's murders stirred up the village legend of "Kanwulf the Viking", a legend foretold about the return of Kanwulf, a member of the MacLeod clan will return to defeat him. Kanwulf is staying at the church. He later on gets a visit from Duncan MacLeod and is angry that Duncan hid his axe. Kanwulf and Duncan later face off, one on one, to fight because Duncan wants to avenge the death of his father. Duncan digs up the axe that he hid in his father's grave and gives it to Kanwulf. Duncan lights a circle of fire and they fight to the death. Duncan beheads Kanwulf and receives his Quickening, avenging his father's death.
