Kansei Edict

The Kansei Edict was a document that was created following the year of 1790 due to the fact that Neo-Confucianism was the current philosophy in Japan. The edict banned any teaching or propagation of heterodox studies. Relatively banning anything that was opposed to the current philosophy of Neo Confucianism. The Kansei Edict established a post filled by two men to oversee all teaching to make sure it conformed to the law.
