Kan Xul II

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kan Xul II (November 5, 644-ca. 711) was the second son of Pacal II or Pacal the Great, a renowned king of the Mayan city of Palenque who ruled from the age of twelve, when his mother stepped down as regent, until his death at eighty. Following Pacal II was his son Chan Bahlum II, who ruled from 683 to his death in 702. Kan Xul II became ruler after his older brother's death.

Kan Xul apparently reigned for about nine years. He was captured by the Tonina in 711 and executed by their leader, K'inich B'aaknal Chaak. His successor was probably Xoc, who was succeeded in 722 by K'inich Ahkal Mo' Naab III.
