Kamensk-Shakhtinsky (Russian: Ка́менск-Ша́хтинский) is a town in Rostov Oblast, in southwestern Russia on the Donets River. It was founded by Cossack settlers in 1686 and was granted town status in 1927. Population: 75,632 (2002 Census).
Once a major coal-mining centre of the eastern Donets coal basin, it now an important producer of artificial fibers and mining machinery as well as glass.
European route E40, the longest European route connecting Calais, France with Ridder, Kazakhstan, passes through Kamensk-Shakhtinsky.
