Kambalda (Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, about 60 km south of Kalgoorlie. Minerals extracted in the area include gold and nickel ores. Nickel was first discovered in the area in 1967 by Western Mining Corporation (now part of BHP Billiton).[1] Nickel from the Yilgarn craton is now mined in the area by several large companies.
