Kam Ning

Kam Ning (born 7th October 1975) is a Singaporean violinist.
A recipient of the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award in 2000, Miss Kam was first given violin lessons at the age of six by her violinist and composer father Kam Kee Yong. In 1987 she received scholarships from the Lee Foundation and Shaw Foundation to study in the Yehudi Menuhin School, where she attended lessons and masterclasses conducted by Lord Menuhin himself and even collaborated with him in chamber and orchestral performances. In her second year at the school, she played at the Royal Festival Hall with the Wren Orchestra of London and appeared in the popular British television programme, Blue Peter. Kam Ning has since performed with many orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia and the Luxemburg Philharmonic. She graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a Masters of Music Degree and an Artist Diploma in 2001.
Kam Ning has given recitals in England, Singapore, Canada, Switzerland and the US, and clinched many international awards, among which is the first prize in the junior section of the Folkestone Menuhin International Violin Competition in 1991 and to date, the culmination of her achievements - the second prize Prix du Gouvernement Fédérale Belge Eugéne Yaaye in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium in 2001.
