Talk:Kalakala
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm curious why the author said that the word was not known in any local language; was there a specific source for this statement? "Kalakala" is listed as meaning "bird" in an early 20th century Chinook jargon dictionary reproduced at http://chinookjargon.home.att.net/shaw.htm. The entry suggests that the word is the same in the Chinook language, so that may be the proper source for the word, but I haven't been able to confirm the word in Chinook.
