Kalmthout is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Kalmthout proper. On January 1, 2006 Kalmthout had a total population of 17,489. The total area is 59.45 km². Kalmthout has a population density of 294 inhabitants per km².
The Arboretum Kalmthout is one of Belgium's most beautiful botanical gardens. The Kalmthoutse Heide is a nature reserve of nearly 10,000 acres crossing the border between Belgium and the Netherlands.
The three members of Flemish folk and world music group Laïs are from Kalmthout.
Willy Vandersteen, the Flemish comic book creator of Spike and Suzy was living in Kalmthout.
