Kalinov Most (Калинов мост, Kalinov bridge) The group was created by wery talanted poet Dmitriy Revyakin in Novosibirsk in 1984.

The image and idea of the homeland acted fatefully on rock and to a great extent was the musics rok, or “fate” - a pun that begs to be made in discussions of Russian rock. Russianness is at onece the rock’s saving grace and it’s deadliest temptation: the first because it it a force that can deepen rock into a meaningful expression of the songwriter’s worldview, and the second because this force can grade imperceptibly into either trivialized, matreshka-style folksiness or, worse yet, ugly nationalism, both of which are capable of delimiting whatever beauty the music constitutes. Il’ya Smirnov made this point well when he wrote that “any avowal of an idea - especially when we are talking about the ‘Russian Idea’ - renders it linear and flat. True Russianness [narodnost’] threatens to turn into a tasteless imitation [lubok]; the word ‘Russian’ threatens to become not a name of an ethnic group, but a call to action. When spiritual sufferings give birth to gloomy intolerance, good will perhaps suffer its first defeat in a clash on the ‘Kalinov Bridge.’
