Kaitiaki

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaitiaki is a New Zealand term used for the Māori concept of guardianship, for the sky, the sea, and the land. The process of protecting and looking after the environment is called 'kaitiakitanga'.

"Kaitiaki is a Māori word meaning guardian and protector. Kaitiaki are powerful guardian spirits from the sky, the land, and the sea." [1]
