Kai (abbreviation)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The kai symbol (Greek: ϗ; Coptic: ⳤ), formed from kappa (κ) with an extra lower stroke, is sometimes used in Greek and Coptic as an abbreviation for the word καί, "and". It may occur with the varia above it: ϗ̀.
This is similar to the ampersand (&) used in English and other languages, and in fact the ampersand is also used in Greek for the same function. There is currently a proposal to encode the uppercase letter at *http://www.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc2/wg2/docs/n3122.pdf
