Kabete

Kabete is a town just outside Nairobi borders in the Central Province of Kenya. Administratively, Kabete is a location in the Kikuyu division of the Kiambu District. Kabete and its environs is inhabited mostly by Kikuyu people. Kabete location has a total population of 29308 (1999 census [1]).
Kabete is also one of the five constituencies in the Kiambu district.
A study in 2005 revealed that Kabete constituency has the least poverty rate in Kenya [2]. However, most residents live off farming and are not particularly rich.
Anthropologist Louis Leakey was born in Kabete.
