K correction

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

K correction is a type of calculation that can be performed on redshifts that allow a measurement taken at a redshift z to be converted to a measurement at redshift zero. This conversion offers a view of what is called the rest-frame.

The exact nature of the calculation that needs to be applied in order to perform a K correction depends upon the type of filter used to make the initial observation.
