K. S. Pillai

K. S. Pillai (1919-1978) is the pioneer of Cartooning in Malayalam journals. Born at Mavelikkara, Alappuzha District, Kerala. A versatile genius in this art, drew mainly for Malayala Manorama and Desabandhu dailies of Kottayam who introduced Political Cartoons as a significant part of journalism. Not only the laymen but the politicians also eagerly looked for Pillai's cartoons. Associated with a cartoon film at Madras. Passed away on 30 th April 1978. Wife the late Krishnakumari.
