K-1 Premium Dynamite!! is an annual kickboxing and MMA event held every year since 2002, by K-1. It was originally a co-production between PRIDE Fighting Championships and K-1. It was held on August 28, 2002. The event was known as K-1 Dynamite!! under the K-1 banner and, PRIDE Shockwave under the PRIDE Fighting Championships' banner, in Japan both organizations carried out the event under the name of PRIDE/K-1 Dynamite!!. The live audience record for the event was 91,107 people, and till this day is the highest live audience record for both of the organizations.

Both organizations then later individually kept holding the event every year on new year's eve as New Years eve in Japan is a huge night for television as most families are home celebrating together and watching tv. Since then, every year on new year's eve PRIDE Shockwave, K-1 Premium Dynamite!! along with Antonio Inoki's Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye would air in a rating's war that for a while was dominated by K-1 but as of 2005 PRIDE has become the more popular sport and won the rating war for the first year.

The main event of the show was the most anticipated fight of the year in Japan. Just a year prior the first foreigner to win the Yokozuna title in Sumo wrestling, Akebono announced he would particpate in K-1 after retiring from sumo competiton. Of course the money making match would pit Akebono, arguably the largest star in Japan against the largest star in K-1, "the Beast" Sapp. The match was not a pretty one, with the obvious untalented Bob Sapp having to outmuscle the even less talented Akebono. Fortunatly for all involved the match didn't last long with Sapp knocking out Akebono before the end of the first round.

"Mr. Perfect" Ernesto Hoost is the only man to win the K-1 WGP 4 times but this match he has his work cut out for him having to take on the 7 feet tall "Brazilian Beast" Montanha Silva. During the fight Hoost had a tough time trying to break through Silva's long reach but by the second round he was getting through and tagging Silva with heavy rights causing the big Brazilian to constantly tie up with Hoost (leading to several yellow cards and a red card). In the end Hoost walked away with the decision victory.
