Königstein is the highest point on the Brandberg massiff in north western Namibia, approximately 30 km west of the town Uis. At 2574 m, this granitic intrusive complex is the highest point in Namibia, and covers about 450 km². There are various routes going to the summit, the easiest (also steepest) being up the Ga'aseb river valley, but other routes include the Hungurob and Tsisab river valleys. The Brandberg massif is also known for the highest density of San (Bushmen) rock paintings in the world, most notably, the White Lady, which can be accessed from the town of Uis.
