Jyotirmoyee Sikdar is a Member of Parliament, India representing Krishnagar constituency of West Bengal in the 14th Lok Sabha. She is affiliated to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). She was an athlete and won the Gold medals in 800 m and 1500 m events in the 1998 Asian Games. She is a recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award for the year 1998-1999. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2003. In August 2004, she was in the news when her husband was arrested on charges of running a sex racket in Kolkata.
