From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Founder of FindLaw - current CEO of Justia. While Justia is doing some development for bar associations and lawyers to pay the bills, we are involved in a number of free information projects with law schools and professors throughout the country, including Cornell, Harvard, Northwestern and Stanford. (best to be working with friends... more peace and love :) . Below are a few of the current projects:
Justia is currently working with Northwestern, Oyez and US Court Forms on a US Supreme Court Center. This site has not been formally announced and is being updated weekly right now as we respond to the initial user feedback. We have all of the case online, and are adding links to the summaries of the cases throughout the Internet, including summaries from the Wikipedia. Oyez and Northwestern also included real audio of the oral arguments, the dockets and related documents for many cases.
Justia is focused on copyright and fair use policy. We developed the Stanford Copyright and Fair Use Center with Stanford and Nolo Press. We are currently working on a new subcenter focusing on the recent lawsuit by the Association of American Publishers against Google regarding the Google Book Search.
On the less pure academic public interest front, we recently developed the New Orleans Coalition for Legal Aid and Disaster Relief site and blog for a group of professors from Tulane Law School and lawyers in the New Orleans area. They are helping Katrina victims with legal issues and bureaucracy to get needed aid.
We have other projects in development, which I will try to list out here as they go live (or whenever I get around to updating this page :).
Peace,
Tim
