Justin Chancellor (born November 19, 1971) is an English-born musician; currently the bass player for Tool and formerly of the band Peach (GB). After settling in the US - besides his engagement in his musical projects - he and his wife Shelee run a store called Lobal Orning in Topanga, California, dedicated to music, literature and film "that shaped and changed" both of them.

[edit] Tool

He joined Tool as their bass player after Paul d'Amour left, despite heavy competition from other musicians such as Kyuss's Scott Reeder, Filter's Frank Cavanagh, ZAUM's Marco Fox - who performed the vocals for the track 'Die Eier Von Satan' on Tool's 1996 album Ænima - and Pigmy Love Circus's E. Sheperd Stevenson.

Justin first met Tool in New York, and kept in touch with band members for a couple of years until Peach (Justin's band in England) did a European tour with Tool in 1994.

When original bassist Paul d'Amour left, Tool gave Chancellor a call, but at first he turned them down. Peach had broken up about six months before, and he was forming a new band with the guitarist. Chancellor felt very loyal to the friend whom he'd played with since he was fourteen, but eventually decided he couldn't deny himself the opportunity. He then flew to the US, auditioned, and got the job.
