"Just Lose It" is a song by American rapper Eminem, released in 2004. It was the lead single from his worldwide hit album, Encore, which was also released that year. The song had caused some controversy, as its content and also its music video had attacked Michael Jackson, who was being accused of child molestation at the time. The song also pokes fun at Pee Wee Herman, Beavis, MC Hammer, Madonna, and others.

Two skits regarding the Michael Jackson controversy were included on Encore, "Paul (Skit)" and "Em Calls Paul (Skit)". The matter was also mentioned in a song from The Anger Management Tour 3 Mixtape entitled "Get Off My Nuts".

At the beginning of the song there is a lyrical excerpt from Eminem's 2002 single Without Me about how "Shady's back". The line "Snap back to reality. Look! It's B. Rabbit" refers to Lose Yourself and Eminem's character in the movie 8 Mile.

In 2005 "Just Lose It" was included on Eminem's greatest hits album, Curtain Call.

[edit] Video

The music video for "Just Lose It" is considered controversial and generated trouble with singer Michael Jackson and many music channels. It was banned on the BET channel, after complaints from Benzino and others (but was later reinstated, as critics of the ban argued that Nelly's Tip Drill video could be seen. Both were only seen on BET: Uncut.) However MTV did not drop it, and the video became one of the most requested on the channel.

It contains numerous short scenes, recurring regularly and keeping within the seemingly random delivery of subject within the song. Jokes in the video include:

  • Many children dancing and jumping on a bed (Michael Jackson molestation charges).
  • Eminem hops from foot to foot in the bathroom, then slips and falls, and throws up in a toilet (8 Mile/Lose Yourself).
  • Eminem is in a rap battle, and has the crowd going, but his pants drop (8 Mile).
  • Eminem, dressed as Michael Jackson, dances down an alley, and squares light up at his feet (Billie Jean).
  • Eminem dresses as an unshaven Santa Claus impersonator (Parody of Bad Santa).
  • Eminem is dressed as Madonna and sprawls on a bed as she did during her Blond Ambition Tour.
  • Michael Jackson's hair catches fire (Pepsi advertisement).
  • Michael Jackson searches for his lost nose after it falls off.
  • A drunk Eminem tries to chat up Paris Hilton, but she slaps him, and he turns on another girl. His beer goggles fade and it turns out to be Dr. Dre.

The video was later nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards for Best Rap Video, but lost to Ludacris' "Number One Spot".

[edit] Trivia

  • The dwarf in the video playing Santa's elf is Tony Cox who also played the same elf in the film Bad Santa.
  • Paparazzi managed to snap nude photos of Eminem during the filming of the streaking scene. The various photos have been widely spread across the internet.
  • This video features Alyson Stoner.
