Jussaari

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jussaari (in Swedish Jussarö) is an island in Tammisaari, Finland. Jussaari is known by the Jussarö lighthouse. There was also an iron ore mine, but it was closed in 1967. In Jussaari, there still remains some abandoned buildings, and that's why the place is known as the only ghost town in Finland.

Also prisoners worked in Jussaari mines. The island had also an own parish.
