Jure uxoris, Latin: "By right of his wife." For example, Robert Bruce, 6th Lord of Annandale whom genealogists name "Robert Bruce IV" (c 1250 - c 1304), 6th Lord of Annandale, was titled Earl of Carrick jure uxoris.
