Jupiter Sunrise

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jupiter Sunrise was started in 2002 by Mark Houlihan of Albany, New York. He quickly joined forces with his long time friend and fellow songwriter Ben Karis. Ben's old band "the Orange" had recently broken up, and the duo toured with acoustic guitars to Los Angeles, CA. There, determined to make a go of the band, they put the feelers out for other musicians and called a drummer they both knew, Chris Snykus, also from NY, though at the time of the call, he was eating a sandwich in Arkansas on his way to Los Angeles for reasons of his own. His band, Perfect Thyroid, had recently ended (in fact both "The Orange" and "Perfect Thyroid" played their final shows on the same day), and Chris agreed to meet them in L.A. Also while in L.A. they met Aaron Case at a guitar store. Soon after the 4 piece went on a number of national tours where they ran into old friend Amanda Rogers. Opening for the band as a solo artist on their 2004 U.S. tour, Amanda Rogers started writing with Jupiter Sunrise and was soon after incorporated into the group. They recorded their first album, Under a Killer Blue Sky, in 2003, and licensed it through Undecided/Victory Records. In 2006 they are still touring and producing their second album with new songs available on Myspace.com/jupitersunrise and purevolume.com/jupitersunrise .

Jupiter Sunrise is known for their catchy songs, vegetable oil powered bus and moving live shows. They toured with Vans Warped Tour in 2005 in the Myspace tent. Their song, "Arthur Nix," was released on the Myspace Records Volume 1.

Jupiter Sunrise is currently unsigned. Jupiter Sunrise is a vegetarian band and supports organizations such as PETA 2.
