Jumpin' Gene Simmons (b. July 10, 1933, Tupelo, Mississippi - d. August 29, 2006, Tupelo, Mississippi) was an American rockabilly singer and songwriter.
Simmons began his recording career with Sun Records in 1958 ([1]). and performing as an opening act for Elvis Presley ([2]).
He had his biggest success in 1964 with the #11 Billboard chart hit, Haunted House, which was later covered by the Compton Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Hasil Adkins. His song Peroxide Blonde in a Hopped Up Model Ford was covered by Brian Setzer.
His last opus was Indian Outlaw, which he co-wrote, and which became a 1994 hit for Tim McGraw.
