[edit] Pointer Sisters version
"Jump (for My Love)" was the lead track, although not the lead single, of the Pointer Sisters' 1983 album, Break Out. The song was the second of four Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles in a row for them in 1984, peaking at #3 in July. It also appeared on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. The song netted the group a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1985.
In 2003, this recording was used for the end title of the movie Love Actually.

In 2003, Girls Aloud covered "Jump (for My Love)" for the movie soundtrack Love Actually. The film uses The Pointer Sisters' original version in the film itself due to American audiences being unaware of Girls Aloud, who feature in the end credits. Audio sample
It gave them a #2 hit and became their second biggest seller. In the United Kingdom, the single sold 60,000 copies in its first week of release and a total of 190,000 copies.
Girls Aloud's version featured two album tracks from Sound of the Underground, as well as a cover of the theme song from Grease (from ITV's Grease Mania).
The track was released after "Some Kind of Miracle" was pencilled in for the fourth single release. "Jump" was featured on the re-release of the Platinum-selling album Sound of the Underground.
[edit] Music video
The video for "Jump (for My Love)" was made to appear like it was interwined with the film Love Actually. A Hugh Grant look-a-like was hired, and the premise of the video was that the members of the band were sneaking around the residence of the Prime Minister. Both group and individual shots were used as the band members progressed from sneaking in a bedroom window to going down a set of stairs to entering a conference room to finally re-exiting through the window.
