Julieta Pinto

Julieta Pinto was born in San José, Costa Rica in 1922 and is one of Costa Rica's leading novelists. She studied law at the Universidad de Costa Rica and sociology of literature at the Sorbonne in France. She has served as a professor of hispanoamerican literature at the University of San Ramón and at the School of Literature and Language Sciences at the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica. Her works have been awarded the Premio Aquileo J. Echeverría three times as well as the Premio Nacional de Cultura Magón. Her works tend to be very philosophical in nature. Her historical novel Tata Pinto concerns the life of her ancestor Antonio Pinto.
