In 2000, Soldatova finished fourth at the Russian nationals, and therefore was ineligible to compete at the 2000 World Championships. Quickly making alternate arrangements with the Belarus skating federation, she skated at the international competition for Belarus. In 2002 Julia Soldatova placed 18th in her last appearance at the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
