As a consequence of his eating habits, Jughead is also a preferred customer on most of Riverdale's food establishments, and a very respected food critic.

I can't remember seeing him eat in any restaurant other than Pop Tate's ice cream and burger joint. And when did anyone ever regard Jughead as being more than a gourmand? --Ed Poor

I've seen Jughead eat at a pizza shop in an episode where he wins 500 free pizza slices.

Also, I wouldn't call him "the weird one". Dilton Doiley also avoids girls: that's one similarity. There is an even balance between the two girl crazy ones: Archie & Reggie -- and the two boys who aren't: Jughead (likes food), Dilton (likes math & science).

We should also mention that Big Ethel is always pursuing her "Juggie".

Hm, if I know so much about it, I guess I should write up the whole crew:

  • Archie
  • Betty
  • Veronica
  • Reggie
  • Big Moose
  • Jughead
  • Big Ethel
  • Dilton
  • Mr. Weatherbee
  • Mrs. Grundy
  • Prof. Flutesnoot -- wow, can't believe I remember his name!
  • Pop Tate
  • Sabrina

[edit] Chocolat Shoppe or Chok'lit Shoppe?

I thought the proper spelling was Chok'lit Shoppe, though my memory may be faulty on that.

The official website lists it as the Chock'lit Shoppe (with the apostrophe apparently optional) ... it's had a number of variants with different writers over the years though ...

[edit] Jughead's name origin?

some web sources said that he got it from his dad; Forsthye Jones JR II, but other sources also mentions that he got it from an uncle who fought in the Revolutionary War. And Jellybean got it from him. his dad name supposedly is Timothy. which one is the correct one? HoneyBee

I believe early stories did use Timothy for his dad, however the official Archie Comics position is now that he's Forsythe Pendleton Jr ... (hardly the first time a character's less prominent name has been changed in the stories - I suspect the writer was simply unaware of the early story in most cases)--Invisifan 10:59, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
thanks! someone should edit juggie dad's name or add the info about the name. HoneyBee
I've been thinking that there should be a "Parents of Archie's gang" article ... The Andrews, Coopers & Jones' all are common recurring characters but have no articles at all (and while the Lodges do, Hermione Lodge hardly warrants a separate one) — something along the lines of the Riverdale High School "Staff" section ... any thoughts?--Invisifan 10:28, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Someone needs to delete the nonsense about a TV series in the 1940s, or make sure what they are referring to is the radio series.

[edit] What the "S" stands for

I know it's never said exactly what the "S" on his sweater/shirt stands for, but there's a comic called "Letter Perfect" I happened to read while on the can the other day about Mr. Weatherbee telling Archie and Jughead about how they're paying extra just to advertise for the big name brands they're wearing. The punchline of the strip is that Ms. Grundy asks Mr. Weatherbee if Archie and Jughead have "changed schools", because instead of "R" and "S" being on Archie and Jughead's clothing respectively, there were their initials, "A" and "J". Just thought this was interesting. The book I saw it reprinted in was "Jughead's Doulble Digest No. 64" if anyone cares. I figured I was supposed to know what S meant and had forgotten since I haven't picked one of these up in a while, but apparently it IS a mystery. But this should at least give a clue. I'm sure it stood for something in the first place.

[edit] Dated look

Should any comments be made about Jughead's dated look? His felt crown really keeps him in the 50s. --68.103.154.140 03:54, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
