[edit] Person who coined a term

Judy Singer coined the term neurodiversity, which there is already an article about. If a term someone coined is noteworthy enough for Wikipedia, then would the person be noteworthy enough for Wikipedia? Q0 02:10, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Aspies for freedom

Just a suggestion: even if this is not considered "encyclopediatic" enough for Wikipedia, it probably is acceptable for Aspies for Freedom Wiki. Q0 01:56, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] It's not the person, it's the entry

The entry sucks, and reads more like an "AUTISM WOW" community's personal shrine to the woman than an objective viewpoint. Kade 01:54, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] One suggestion

This part of a sentence: "the common picture of children suffering when an AS parent lacks empathy is something that some AS activists cannot stomach and would like to suppress." is one example of how the article lacks neutrality. "Cannot stomach" and "would like to suppress" are loaded. Why some "AS activists" have a problem with her, if they do, and their side of the story are not represented.

It looks as if she or someone very close to her may even be the one who wrote this Wikipedia entry, given the amount the entry purports to know about her state of mind. The article talks more, in fact, about her state of mind and emotions than about the things an encyclopedia article would normally talk about.

Perhaps someone could rewrite the entry to describe what her specific contributions to the disability rights movement are, and with any controversies covered thoroughly without insulting either side. And less of the discussion of her personal feelings. It could be a good and balanced article, but Kade's description of it as looking like a personal shrine isn't too far off the mark at the moment.

That it comes off as a personal shrine is not terribly surprising as the history of this page has Ms. Singer herself having written it. Isn't it a pleasure to see people taking the initiative to write their own rave reviews? *rollseyes* Good grief...
