Talk:Jubal Harshaw
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm not disputing the necessity of adding Jubal's (Heinlein's) quotes to Wikiquote, but I think they should be left in this article as well because they add to the understanding of the character. I had intended on doing something similar for the majority of Heinlein's characters listed (as well as others that I will probably add, and characters I am familiar with by other authors.) ... I note that it is common occurence to allow one quotation on author pages, etc. I'd like to at least do the same on character pages as well, if consensus agrees. JubalHarshaw 05:14, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)

- For most fictional characters I would say that quotes are spurious to WP's purpose and should be dumped once transwiki'ed. In the current case, the selected quotes are effective illustrations of the philosophies of the character; and, as the article notes, they're widely considered to be indicative of Heinlein's own thoughts, which were far more influential than virtually anyone else in science fiction. So in VfD terms I'd vote weak Keep. Barno 20:59, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. I always thought Jubal was RAH's avatar. In the same vein, might mention "Harshaw's Law": his opinion an artist who needs an interpreter (a critic) has failed.... Trekphiler 12:55, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
