[edit] Version 1.0 Editorial Team - Torrent Project
Thanks for making/posting the wpcd.zip.torrent to BitTorrent.com. TorrentFreak.com picked it up here resulting in a 5-10X increase in swarm size. Much appreciated.
In your post at BitTorrent.com you refer to the wpcd.zip as Version 1.0. It was the Torrent project's incorrect and longstanding impression that this was an accurate designation. This is no longer our understanding. I have posted a comment to the TorrentFreak post, and to the Torrent project talk page in response. Good to clear these things up before the real Version 1.0 shows up. :) -- Paleorthid 21:00, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:BitTorrentLogo.gif
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:BitTorrentLogo.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. JDtalk 21:49, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Speedy
I understand that Image:BitTorrentLogo.gif is usable under fair use. In its previous and current form, however, it specifically violates Wikipedia image use policy. It is the legal responsibility of the image uploader to provide and clear and solid fair use rationale for each specific page, by name, in which the image is used. As per the above, you can see that the image is again up for deletion. I suggest you thoroughly read the following pages.
- Wikipedia:Copyrights
- Wikipedia:Image copyright tags
- Wikipedia:Image use policy
- Wikipedia:Fair use
- Wikipedia:Fair use criteria
- Wikipedia:Fair use rationale
- Wikipedia:Logos
- Help:Image page
They all have at least one section that specifically relevant to the issues we are dealing with. If you have any questions, you may contact me at my talk page. Cheers, Iamunknown 22:28, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
