[edit] Rotary International

hello, I noticed that you removed the Rotary International to CeeGee version.

May I know why ? I removed what placed CeeGee and what you called "blanked the version"

  • because the actual text comes from the Rotary itself as explained by CeeGee
  • because IP 24.xxx (?) recently just edited Rotary International + Rotary Foundation and nothing else
  • because CeeGee is Rotarian
  • because Rotary is active on Internet to uplift their public image
  • because this actual text receive no confirmation from other sources than Rotary
  • because Rotary, for example is in conflict for recruitment with Lions and often compares to Lions
  • because Wiki is frequently used bu Rotary to smooth image. There are frequent conflicts on that page
  • because their behavior is caracterized as Wikipedia fiddling

thank you for your answer, PierreLarcin 15:08, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

There is no evidence of a concerted campaign to put false information onto the page. Acting in good faith, I re-added text that is likely to be correct. Can you explain this edit summary of yours? Cheers, Jpeob 22:32, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
well YES there is such a campaign, as there was in France such edits coming from users who just edited Rotary-related wiki articles, and in a positive ways. will come later on that.

More : they post info copied from Rotarian sites. This is not info. Not possible to cross the info with other sources.

explain the edit summary : well the preceding version was insulting for rotary, with allusion to ku klux klan and strip dancers as rotary if you check at the bottom. I did not suscribe to all content. I work here with blind facilities. My interest was to clean insults quickly. In the Flemish wiki of Rotary, I was banned because I let once, i mean one time only, the word "dictator" in front of Pinochet... I am afraid of Rotarian provocations. I noticed your good faith. I knew it. The problem is that I practice CeeGee since a long time. 84.102.229.40 23:35, 18 November 2006 (UTC) Plus a problem : I loose my login when i come from french wiki. Noticed PierreLarcin in above right corner but when editing, signed by IP. Here is again my signature PierreLarcin 23:41, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

as long as edits are neutral point of view and are verifiable, then they should stand. Try not to slander other editors as acting in bad faith. Instead, refrain from edit warring, and discuss concerns on the talk page, based on facts, not personal attacks. Thanks, Jpeob 08:24, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
There is a point which is not clear : when Rotary says that he has 70.000 members on its Internet sites and when a Rotarian comes on wiki, sourcing on there Rotarian sites, and writes in the Wiki 'Rotary International, subchapter membership' that Rotary has 70.000 members, because Rotary sites say that. Is this info "Rotary has 70.000 members" then verifiable ?

For me, no, definitely no, because CeeGee is a member of Rotary, Rotary is struggling with Lions, and Rotary practices public relations. And for you ? Thank you for your American (?) opinion. You have my French one. Thank you for your answer :-). PierreLarcin 22:00, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

All should be sourced per our verification policy. Per WP:RS#Company_and_organization_websites, information sourced from an organisation such as Rotary can be used as long as you do not copy biased material. If the "70000 members" claim is sourced by Rotary, it would be very hard to prove that their statistics are inherently biased purely because they are self-created. All approximations of membership for any society are necessarily created by such a society. Jpeob 22:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks for the link. It is very difficult for me to find such a source. Have a good day :-) 84.102.229.40 04:54, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Opening Section of Poland

Please stop removing stuff from the Opening Section of Poland. Why are you doing it? I hope that you did this for the last time without going through discussion section of Poland! Thanks! --Thomaspca 03:17, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Per Talk:Poland#.22World-famous_people.22, such a paragraph is out of place in a lead, especially considering it is covered elsewhere. Further, please use edit summaries in your edits, they're civil, and tell other editors what you are doing. Otherwise, your edits have less of an air of legitimacy. [edit] 3RR & Vandalism

The 3RR rule doesn't apply for reverting simple vandalism. Check the WP:3RR.--Hatch68 01:51, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I know. But it's better to have multiple users reverting vandalism. Cheers, Jpeob 01:55, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:BishopAnthonyFisherCoatofArms.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:BishopAnthonyFisherCoatofArms.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

I concur! Delete - esp. if orphaned! Jpeob 13:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Diocesan Infobox

To the WikiProject Catholicism members

I have proposed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Catholicism an infobox for Catholic Dioceses. I have not gotten any feedback on this proposal, so I’m culling feedback, advice, corrections, etc. for this. If you have the time, would you check out User:SkierRMH/Diocese_Infobox and give me some feedback! Thanks much!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SkierRMH (talkcontribs) 01:30, 8 December 2006.

Antarctica is also a continent. Jpeob 00:53, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, let's keep both than, I guess. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.136.195.71 (talk) 01:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
It's covered elsewhere, using more technical terms. See WP:LEAD. Jpeob 01:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
