[edit] Welcome
Welcome!
Hello, Joshuarooney, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! :) Dlohcierekim 13:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi Josh,
The tools in the welcome will help. Just always preview any changes you make to proof read. Check discussio pages to make sure the changes you are making to violate a previous consensus.
Hope this helps
I warned your vandal :) Dlohcierekim 13:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, neato. Probably not worth warning though, only gives them the attention that they crave :-) Kim Bruning 14:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] thanks to everyone
thankyou to everyone who has helped me in the past, and i hope we can get on for the future. Joshuarooney 14:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your Userboxes
I saw where you had created some userboxes at Template:User XX-5, Template:User user trumpet-2, Template:User EN, and Template:User_World_War_2. FYI, if you are interested, there is a {{Userbox}} template that you can use to create these userboxes to that they will have the same shape and appearance as the other userboxes on your page. See below for an example ... the code on the left will produce the userbox on the right:
{{subst:Userbox
}} |
|
If you feel that this userbox will be userful to other Wikipedians, you are obviously welcome to create a template for it and place a copy of it in the appropriate section on one of the subpages of WP:BOX. This is not necessary, however - if you just want the userbox for yourself and don't think anyone else would want to use it, or if you are creating a userbox that is a duplicate of an already existing one, you can just copy the above userbox code directly onto your user page - you do not actually have to create a template.
FYI, if you do decide that you don't need the templates you created, you can place the {{db-author}} tag in them to alert administrators that they are no longer needed and can be deleted.
I hope this has been helpful and will help you as you create your userpage and contribute to Wikipedia. BigDT 18:34, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Note that userboxes are a controversial subject, and it might be wiser to actually contribute to the encyclopedia instead. Kim Bruning 20:24, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I deleted three of them (see red links above) as malformed, and unused. --Durin 14:21, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalized?
Go to their talk page and use {{test}}. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:59, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Random linking led me to this, I hope you don't mind me butting in. Here are the various test templates for usertalk, remember to use substitution for the template (e.g. subst:test1 instead of test1. Teke 01:24, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 9/11 userbox
ok, there is a 9/11 terrorist attack memoriam userbox, but no 7/7 terrorist attack memoriam userbox, in both instanses people were killed, so why not have one for the 7/7 terrorist blasts in london?
i need support.
- Ummm... actually the terrorist attack took place on 7/7 --IslaySolomon 16:10, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know, i have changed it ;) --Joshuarooney2006 15:33, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your user page is very funny! And very charming! Neat!
Thank you for your very artistic expression in your user page. I love it. And I hope some of us can just keep the vandals off the art work--without exciting them even more, hopefully. The artist should not have to protect his work of art, should he? --Rednblu 02:20, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your nice comment :) lets have more people like you in the world, and less people like the vandals. Joshuarooney 12:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism notices
Hello. In your fight against vandalism on Wikipedia, please do not place vandalism notices in articles (like this). But keep up your vigilance! Thanks, RobertG ♬ talk 15:16, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent article
Your recent article, Joshuarooney, looks like an attempt at an RfA. The place to put that would be at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. However, you probably shouldn't try one of those until you've been around longer. Good luck! --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 16:10, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Blocking, unblock request
You have been temporarily blocked from editing for disrupting Wikipedia by making personal attacks. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. Jkelly 16:25, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- 83.146.42.228 (talk • contribs) left a request to unblock this account on my Talk page. The account will be unblocked shortly, and I had no plans to extend it. If you were editing under a different IP in order to evade your block, please keep in mind that this is frowned upon. If you are blocked again in the future, you may request unblocking by adding {{unblock}} to your userpage. As for the claim of your account being "hacked", you are solely responsible for editing done under this accoun, and for keeping your account information secure.Jkelly 16:33, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A reply
You messaged me a few days ago, and I responded in length. User_talk:Travb/Archive_6#I_am_annoyed...Not_at_you
I would suggest getting e-mail ativated, otherwise you will miss private messages of other wikiusers.
A little solicited advice: Drop the RfC, everyone who has the slightest bit of familarity with what happened between you and the admin know you are going to lose (except for yourself it appears). I think your current actions are a case study in how to do everything wrong.

[edit] PROD warning
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article I-Desk, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:I-Desk. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Batmanand | Talk 11:11, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- The issue is only partly the commerical advertising. I am not sure the company is notable, as per WP:CORP. If you disagree, remove the PROD notice, and tell me why it is. Batmanand | Talk 10:51, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- What a remarkably mature response - most people get very annoyed when they effort into an article which is later proposed for deletion. I have tagged is as a WP:CSD, which will ensure its demise a little quicker, but thank you for a very satisfactory exchange. Happy editing! Batmanand | Talk 15:39, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sandi Thom
Hi there, thanks for your comment. I haven't edited Sandi Thom at all, though I did post a few jokey remarks on the I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (with Flowers in My Hair) talk page. Don't worry, it was only meant to be a facetious remark about how bad (IMO) the lyrics are. Obviously my comments wouldn't be suitable for inserting into the article (being both POV and original research), but then again, I do think that there might be scope for a section of the article analysing the lyrics in an appropriate manner. And, Wikipedia can be so very serious sometimes... :) DWaterson 16:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to User:AntiVandalBot. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. KOS | talk 18:36, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for disrupting Wikipedia by making personal attacks. I feel that I am being rather lenient for only blocking you for 384 hours instead of for 1000 which was my orginal block. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires, but please know that personal attacks will not be tolerated from you again. KOS | talk 14:14, 14 August 2006 (UTC) you are a prat, and my revenge will be sweet! hahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
- I have reset the block on this account, back to 384 hours, for this edit. Also for your using a sockpuppet to evade your block, and make personal attacks. KOS | talk 13:53, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
What he dosent realise is, I DONT HAVE JUST ONE IP ADDRESS, so his block is useless, like he is. --Joshuarooney2006 14:25, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
