[edit] Introduction
While I sincerely doubt that I will become a regular contributor (ah, how many times have I said that prior to going overboard with a pet project for a number of months?), I figured that a little bit of self-aggrandizment can't hurt, along with a few mispellings.
There are five resources on the net that I am always referring to when in doubt:
- Stephen's Guide to Logical Fallacies
- Dictionary.com
- Snopes
- and of course Wikipedia
I tend to spend a fair bit of time on message boards, and that generally requires me to check to make sure I know what I'm talking about before spouting off my mouth in the name of eliminating idiocy from this planet. I haven't been too successful so far, but I have a feeling that those five links aid me in my quest quite a bit.
[edit] Edumucation
I have a BA in Religion (Judaism/Christianity) and Political Science (Theory/Philosophy). I speak four languages to varying degrees of proficiency.
I went to a bilingual (French/English) school for the first six years of my schooling, followed by Spanish from the 6th grade until Junior year of High school, and finally picked up Japanese in college.
I had a presitigious 2.7 GPA during my time in college, and I am proud to be a member of the intellectual elite of the world because of that feat of mediocrity. Or maybe I'm just rather lazy. Or I blame the drugs...that I haven't done (of course).
[edit] Current Interests
When I'm browsing around on wikipedia, it generally tends to be about something either Japanese (currently Sumo), something historical (most recently WWII), or something scientific/mathematic (most recently Godel's Incompleteness Theorem). I make little edits here and there when I see it fit, and most likely will watch as someone edits them back, fixes my spelling, or makes my words sound better than they were when I wrote them.
[edit] Location, Location, Location
I am currently living in Kyoto, Japan despite the fact that I failed Japanese in college. I am on the JET Programme entering my third year as a JHS and Elementary School teacher. Something like this guy].
Feel free to leave stuff on my talk page, including harsh criticism of my editing, spelling, or stench.
