[edit] History

Josh Lewis and Reva Shayne met growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma since Reva's family worked for the wealthy Lewis'. They were childhood sweethearts until Josh left for college. Devastated, Reva married Josh's brother Billy Lewis to get back at him, but the couple eventually divorced.

As the "black sheep" of the Lewis clan, and because Billy married Reva, instead of him, Josh ended up dropping out of school and moving to Tenerife. In Tenerife, while he was sowing his wild oats (and grieving the loss of Reva), Josh became a "playboy" and a "skirt chaser." In October 1981, Josh arrived in Springfield to become Floyd Parker's manager for his budding rock music career. He became involved with several women, but none of the relationships lasted.

Reva arrived in Springfield when Alan Spaulding recruited her to break up ex-husband Billy and Vanessa Chamberlain. So Reva showed up with the news that her divorce from Billy was invalid and that they were still very much married! She demanded $5 million for a divorce but she finally gave up and gave Alan his money back, while Billy found the divorce papers.

When Alan attacked the Lewis family, Billy talked Reva into convincing Josh to merge LTA and Lewis Oil so that they could combine power to destroy Spaulding Enterprises. So in 1984, Reva and Josh rekindled their passion and a return to Cross Creek where they had made love for the first time. They planned to wed but before they could make it official, Josh learned that Alan bribed her to come to town to break up Vanessa and Billy. By then, HB Lewis convinced Reva to marry him instead. When Josh (who had gone to see Reva to patch things up) learned about the marriage, he was so disgusted that he went for a wild drive and crashed his car into a telephone pole that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He had surgery and was disheartened by the long road of physical therapy that lay ahead.

While at a party at the Country Club, a drunken Phillip Spaulding was coming on to Reva. Josh thought the worst of Reva and accused her of making a play for another man. It was then, while he was wheelchair-bound, that he and Reva had the showdown to end all showdowns ... culminating in her stripping off her clothes, diving into a fountain, and baptizing herself "The slut of Springfield."

After months of sexual tension, one rainy night, Reva climbed into Josh's bed when H.B. was not around and they made love. Later that night Billy found them and pulled her out of bed and forced Reva to leave town. Meanwhile, inspired by Bert Bauer, who was wheelchair-bound after losing her leg due to cancer, Josh was able to walk again after therapy and he tracked Reva down in Tulsa and begged her to run away with him. Just then they heard from Josh's sister Trish Lewis that a heartsick H.B. was in failing health. The lovers returned to Springfield and gave H.B. the will to live. Shortly after, Reva discovered she was pregnant with H.B.'s baby, so a heartbroken Josh sadly told her to take good care of his "daddy" and left to work on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

In the fall 1986, a organization named Diamondhead tried to took over Lewis Oil by sabotaging its oil rigs in Venezuela and attempted to kill Josh. During one of its murder attempts on Josh by an explosion, his nephew-in-law Kurt Corday, was killed instead and Josh hid in Cross Creek.

In Springfield, while Reva ran away from her wedding to Kyle Sampson, she was hit by a car, of two by the Diamondhead members, that was actually trying to run Josh, who had recently returned, down as he was walking down the street. Reva woke-up for a brief second and saw Josh standing above her. He brought her to the hospital and later snuck into Reva's hospital room to check on her before he went to Cross Creek to hide. After Reva was released from the hospital she went to Cross Creek to think about her life, she met Josh and they reunited.

Unbeknownst to Josh, a hit man named Pierce had followed him to Cross Creek and when Josh's niece Mindy Lewis also arrived there, Pierce kidnapped her to a stable. Pierce got his instruction from a man named Hans Gerhardt and Mindy overheard this. Josh and Reva didn't know about Mindy's kidnapping until Pierce kidnapped them as well. Luckily, Mindy ended up saving Josh and Reva by hitting Pierce with a board, sending him falling into a wildcat pit where he broke his neck.

Back at home, Reva became pregnant with Josh's child, and the two became engaged. After a business disagreement with HB, Josh resigned and spent some time back in Venezuela. There he was reunited with Dr. Will Jeffries, a psychiatrist he had befriended earlier while he was living in the South American country.

Josh returned to Springfield with Will just in time for Reva to give birth to a daughter, Marah. Will took a position at Cedars Hospital, and Josh started managing a construction company owned by the ailing Kaz Kowalski. Happy with his new niche, Josh looked forward to leading the simple life with Reva and Marah, his buddy Will at his side. But then Will discovered that Marah was actually Kyle's child. Reva suspected this but it was Will who finally told Josh the truth. Josh confronted Reva and told her they were finished. He also hastened to add that he had been married in Venezuela to a psychiatrist named Sonni Carrera. Sonni had since died in a hiking accident during their honeymoon, having plunged to her death off a suspension bridge. Reva was angry that Josh had withheld this from her, but the attraction between them was so strong that in time they decided to make a go of their romance once again. It was then that Sonni turned up alive to Josh's shock and after a bitter argument in the Country Club, Josh definitely left Reva and remarried Sonni out of duty, while Reva became involved with Alan.

Unfortunately, Will was not the friend Josh thought he was. Will hated Josh because he was jealious of Josh's life. It was actually Will who altered the birth records to indicate that Josh was not Marah's father. And it was also Will who brought Sonni to town although she was actually her evil twin sister Solita. Will and Solita were a couple and had plans to kill Josh and to get one million dollars from his life insurance. Josh and Reva would go through a long ordeal with Will and Solita before learning the truth about the murder plot and switched paternity records. With Marah back home, Josh and Reva finally married in a beautiful wedding at Cross Creek.

By this time, Reva was pregnant again and she distanced herself from Josh. Josh sensed Reva's torment and became fearful for both her and their baby's health, so Reva finally confessed to Josh that she had given birth to a little boy when she was a teenager, lying that the child was the result of a rape. Reva was being blackmailed by the adoptive father, Mark Cody, of her first born son. So, Josh and Reva went to Tulsa, where Josh confronted Cody and a sniveling Cody told Josh that Dylan was Reva's son. Vanessa began to notice a resemblance between Billy and Dylan and she and Josh finally guessed that Billy was Dylan's father, and Josh bitterly confronted Reva who confessed his suspicious. Josh forgave both Reva and Billy anyway.

A car accident in February 1990 almost stopped Josh from attending the birth of his and Reva's baby at Cross Creek, but he arrived just in time to help deliver his son, Shayne. Reva soon started acting strangely, going on shopping sprees, flying halfway around the world without telling anyone and leaving the baby unattended. Josh was then forced to find a Nanny for his children. Vanessa was giving Josh a helpful hand with the children while he searched for a Nanny. Reva was jealous of Vanessa's presence in the Lewis household and hired Harley to take care of the children, against Josh's wishes. At a party to welcome Justin Marler, it became obvious that something was very wrong with Reva.

After taking Reva home from the party Ed diagnosed a gargantuan case of post-partum depression and gave her medication, but a paranoid Reva didn't want to take it. Her condition became worse, and she started getting promiscuous. Josh decided a family vacation might be just what Reva needed, so the family headed to the Florida Keys. Reva faithfully started taking her medication but had a seizure and collapsed on the beach. After recovering she had Harley Cooper promise her she would take care of Josh and the kids if anything should happen to her. Josh had been having recurring dreams of Reva being out of sight and unable to save her.

The next morning Reva was not home resting like Josh had thought. Reva had begun to hear strange voices in her head. She thought she was being followed and told Dylan and Sam to jump into her car. She stopped and forced Dylan out, then tore off with Sam. Sam realized that her life was in danger and jumped from the speeding car only moments before Reva drove through a barricade and off an unfinished bridge into the water below. Josh watched in horror as she drove off the bridge and into the water, but neither he nor the Coast Guard was able to find her and Reva was declared dead. Josh was devastated by the tragedy and retreated into his room and into himself.

Josh eventually moved on with Harley but the romance was derailed when Billy told Josh that he'd spotted Reva on a travel show about Italy. Reva's mother Sarah Shayne saw the same show and agreed it was Reva, but Josh refused to believe it. Billy had the shot of the woman on the video made into a photo and showed it to Harley at her bridal shower. She was even more hurt when she later saw Josh watching the supposed video of Reva over and over again. Josh left town to search for his presumed-dead wife. Josh decided he was moving to Italy to continue his search for Reva. He wrote a letter to break off his engagement with Harley, and Sarah and the kids joined him abroad.

In August 1993, Josh returned to Springfield to attend Dylan's wedding to Julie Camaletti. Over the years, he had been unsuccessful to find Reva and had realized that she was really dead.

In January 1995, Josh was seriously injured while rescuing Marina Cooper from a fire on Fifth Street. Despite the initial animosity between them, he and Nurse Annie Dutton grew closer. Vanessa was shocked when Josh temporarily quit Lewis Oil and decided to work with Lewis Construction to rebuild Fifth Street.

Josh and Annie's relationship was just starting to take off when Josh became haunted by Reva's presence. First the smell of her perfume in the house, then he found a picture of her in his wallet that he thought he had taken out years ago. A romantic rendezvous with Annie was spoiled when Josh saw a vision of Reva just as he was about to make love to Annie for the first time. Josh went to Cross Creek, where he found Reva's ghost waiting. The two fondly remembered their past, but when Josh told her about Annie, Reva insisted that Josh would never find another woman like her. Annie arrived, and Josh convinced her that Reva's ghost was really there. When Reva made Josh choose between her and Annie, he chose Annie, and Reva agreed to let him go. Despite this promise, Reva began appearing in front of Annie. Josh ordered Reva out of their lives.

Reva again agreed to go but reappeared when Marah's appendix burst. After Marah recovered, she told Josh and Annie that she had had a near-death experience in which Reva told her to go back to them. Josh learned he would have to have Reva declared legally dead in order to remarry, so Hawk returned to fight Josh's plan and learned about Annie and Rick's secret marriage. Josh was livid! Annie insisted on telling Josh all the sordid details of her past, including her alcoholism and her affair with Jake, and she gave Josh back his ring.

After having a visit from H.B., Josh realized how hard he had been on Annie and decided to go after her when Annie and Rick went to Mexico to finalize their divorce. Josh showed up and declared his love for Annie. She accepted his proposal and Rick returned to Springfield alone. Unlike Annie, Alex believed Hawk's story that Reva was alive after seeing Reva on a tape from the surveillance camera at the diner. Alex got to Josh's right after he'd married Annie. She proved to him that Reva was alive with the videotape. Needing to see for himself, Josh rushed to the airport alone, where Reva was about to leave for Europe with Alan. He and Reva had an emotional confrontation. Josh realized that Reva had been in Springfield for some time and was Rebecca the woman who had been stalking him and the kids.

Ross told Josh he would have to have his marriage to Annie annulled or risk facing bigamy charges. Josh then went so far as to get a restraining order to prevent Reva from seeing Marah and Shayne. Then Reva attended the New Year's Eve party at the Country Club. She was extremely angry with Josh and Josh followed Reva into a room where they were alone together. Reva poured her heart out to Josh, telling him about what had happened to her the past 5 years. After they kissed passionately, Reva thought Josh wanted her back but instead Josh ran out of the room as Alan looked on. Josh called her every name in the book and left Reva frozen and humiliated in front of all the folks. He then explained Annie that the kiss didn't mean anything to him, he confessed his love to Annie and they made love.

In January 1996, after Annie confronted Reva with the fact that Josh only loved Annie, Reva didn't believe it and she had plans to file bigamy charges against Josh, so Josh staged and planned for Reva to be arrested since she had been back and didn't stop his wedding. After both tried to arrest one another Josh convinced Reva that they could work things out without going to court. A happy Reva left the room to drop the charges. They had decided that they would be civil to one another and were leaving the court on good terms. Meanwhile, Alan felt it was his place to tell him that he and Reva were lovers now. Josh got angry after he learned about Alan and Reva's night together, and Reva had vowed not to give him a divorce until she got custody of the kids. Alan moved out when Reva's lawyer said her living situation was as bad as Josh's.

In court, Annie's past cost her Josh and the kids. The judge ruled Annie had to move out after hearing testimony from a widow whose husband was killed when Annie and her friend Jake were driving drunk. Josh went to Cross Creek and asked Hawk to help him get Reva up there. Josh was hoping that Reva and he could find a way to stop the fighting. Although they fought like always, they admitted their love then shared a passionate kiss. Scared and confused, Josh ran out of there and headed home.

Meanwhile, Shayne and especially Marah wanted Annie to be their mommy, so Reva married Buzz to make Josh think she'd lied about loving him, and she gave Josh custody of Marah and Shayne. Josh had finally come to the conclusion that he loved Reva and wanted her back. After Reva convinced Josh she lied and loved Buzz, Josh ran out furious. A hurt and distant Josh decided to move on with his life and re-married Annie in the hospital chapel.

Not long after, Annie suffered from migraines and went to a doctor for a prescription. She also started popping pills again and Rick consulted with Josh, who agreed to an intervention. During the emotional confrontation, Annie told Josh that Reva really loved him and had only married Buzz for the sake of the children. Reva couldn't face the questions or Josh so she left. When the intervention ended, Josh ran straight to Reva's to hear the truth from her. Reva admitted this was true, but she and Josh realized it would be better for everyone if they stayed apart.

Annie's downward spiral continued, Phillip found her in a bar and took her to the Bauer cabin to detox. After a few painful days, Annie returned home free of drugs and alcohol. She decided that the best way to keep Josh away from Reva would be to get pregnant, so she cut a slit in her diaphragm and seduced him at the Springfield Inn.

Then Josh got a call on his cell phone that Sarah was ill in Italy. Josh provided his Lewis jet and went with Buzz and Reva to bring Sarah back to the States. In Italy, before she died, Sarah encouraged Josh not to give up on Reva. Josh and Reva sat down and talked at an Italian café. Just as they became close, Annie arrived.

Back home, Josh found Annie's slashed diaphragm. The two fought but Josh needed time to get away. Not knowing that Reva had gone to Cross Creek to grieve Sarah's death, Josh was shocked to see her there when he arrived. He told Reva the ugly details of what Annie did with her birth control. Annie had lost faith in Josh's eyes and he needed time to think. After Annie called him up at Cross Creek she had a feeling Reva was with him and asked Buzz to drive her there. Reva told Josh she understood Annie's desperation, but they both knew they had to keep their distance and they called it a night.

The next morning Josh told Reva how he felt about her and made her admit her feelings as well. They kissed and would have made love, but Annie arrived before things could go any further. Josh was stunned when she joyfully announced that she was pregnant, unaware that it was a lie. Determined to make the pregnancy a reality, Annie blackmailed a former classmate named Fran to artificially inseminate her.

Meanwhile, Josh was startled when Reva confided in him that she and Buzz were getting a divorce because she was still in love with Josh. Although Josh felt the same about Reva, he was determined to stay with Annie until the birth of their baby. However, it he still felt drawn to Reva who distanced herself from him. Josh soon learned the reason from Reva: she was looking for her long-lost sister whose existence she had just learned about months earlier from Sarah. Although Reva refused his offer of help since he was still married to Annie, Josh insisted on it. Although Josh and Reva turned up some leads, Reva came to a stunning revelation while Josh was away visiting his father who'd had a heart attack,--her long lost sister was Annie!

When Josh returned from visiting HB, he planned on leaving Annie when Reva suddenly distanced herself and encouraged him to stay with his wife. The reason was that Reva discovered that Annie was her long lost siter. However, Josh finally decided that he couldn't keep living a lie and told Annie that he was leaving her. Although Annie begged him to stay, he was adamant. Soon after, Reva discovered she'd been lied to. Annie was not her sister after all.

Now officially reunited, Josh and Reva went to a party at the Spaulding mansion. At the party, Annie, who had miscarried Josh's child in secret several days before, finally went off the deep end and threw herself down a flight of stairs. She set it up so that it looked like Reva pushed her, and Reva was arrested for the murder of Annie's baby. At the same time, Reva started telling Josh her suspicions that Annie's baby wasn't Josh's; that she had been artificially inseminated. But when Josh went to the fertility clinic, there was no record of Annie having been there, nor could witnesses corroborate it. However, Annie was trying to establish that Reva was delusional and that's why she thought Annie was her sister. Knowing that wasn't true, Josh suddenly realized how sick Annie was and believed Reva's story and stood behind her as she faced a murder trial.

Reva got out on bail, and Josh and Reva decided to keep their feelings for each other a secret so that they could get the truth out of Annie. Josh wasn't successful in getting the truth out of her, and Reva stood trial. To see how Annie would react, Josh lied to her that they had found the remains of their unborn child and he was going to have an autopsy performed. Annie grew extremely agitated at hearing that refused to consent to the autopsy, since she claimed it would disgrace the child's memory. While pretending to leave the room, Josh overheard Annie make a call to the hospital asking if it is possible from an autopsy to learn when exactly a child died? With that, Josh realized that Annie's baby must have been dead before Annie fell down the steps. Doing some investigating, Josh was able to save Reva at the last minute when he burst into the court room with the doctor, Steven Levine, who examined Annie after her miscarriage. The doctor's testimony freed Reva, and Annie admitted the whole truth on the stand. All charges against Reva were dropped and Josh finally left Annie for good.

Josh and Reva were finally free to be together. They headed up to Cross Creek, and after 7 long years, they made love. Back home, they began their new life together with their children, and held a private family wedding at Cross Creek although it wasn't a legal marriage.

With things settling, Reva hired Harley and Jenna to find her long lost sister. But Annie and Alan were at it again. They found Reva's real sister, Cassie Layne in a strip joint in Chicago, and paid her to cause trouble for Josh and Reva. Cassie was hired at Lewis Oil to be Billy's assistant. During this time, HB died and he left all of his stock in Lewis Oil to Reva. Reva became even more involved with the company, and discovered that Cassie was working for Alan. She decided to go to the Lewis Oil convention to confront Cassie, and walked in on a drugged Josh and Cassie in bed together. Another set-up by Annie and Alan! The good guys came out on top again, though as Cassie and Reva discovered that they were sisters and that Alan and Annie had been using Cassie's daughter, Tammy, (who was in foster care) as a pawn to pit Cassie against the Lewises.

Luckily, Josh won custody of Tammy and Cassie stayed in town and bonded with Reva. Later, Abby shot Roy Meechum in the courtroom, and as revenge, some of Roy's friends set Reva's house on fire with Abby, Reva and Michelle inside. Josh came in and saved the day, pulling Reva out of the house and saving her life, but the house was a total loss. At Christmas time, Matt and Vanessa gave Josh and Reva a wonderful gift, their home.

In January 1998, Reva met Eddie Banks, Annie's ex-husband. He had information and documents of illegal activity that Annie had done. Eddie showed up at Alan and Annie's wedding and Annie was arrested. Unfortunately, Annie escaped; she drugged Reva at Lewis Oil and took her up in a plane. Annie videotaped Reva and then parachuted out of the plane with the pilot, leaving Reva in a plane all tied up with no pilot and no way to free herself. Meanwhile, Josh flew down to the Florida Keys after receiving a call from Annie saying what she planned to do. When he arrived, he searched desperately for Reva until the coast guard stopped him. The Coast Guard thought he was crazy until the pilot who jumped with Annie showed up and verified his story. Josh realized that it was over. Josh returned home, devastated that once again, he had lost the love of his life. Consumed by grief, Josh got drunk and played Reva's goodbye message on his voice mail over and over. When Dr. Michael Burke showed up, Josh blasted him and told him that his wife was dead gone forever. Michael found out that Reva had her eggs harvested, and told Josh that he had a way for him to have his wife back and he would never have to break the children's hearts by telling them that their mother was dead. A drunken and desperate Josh agreed to allow Michael to clone his beloved wife!

Once he was sober, Josh realized the horror of human cloning, and called Michael to say that he had changed his mind. Just as Josh was about to tell the children up at Cross Creek that their mother was dead, Michael showed up and knocked Josh over the head, forcing him into his car. Back at Michael's apartment, Josh was introduced to a newborn baby, Reva Shayne! The clone was given a rapid aging serum so that she could grow up to Reva's age quickly and return to being Josh's wife, and Marah and Shayne's mother. As little clone Reva began to grow up, Josh spent a lot of time with her. He filled her with "memories" of him and Reva so that she would be able to complete the picture of Marah and Shayne's mother.

Back home, Josh was dealing with a wild clone of his wife. The clone snuck out of Michael's apartment and went to a bar where she danced in a red dress just like Reva used to do. Josh pulled her out of there, and during a heart to heart talk, admitted to her that she was a clone of his dead wife. The clone then began to fall in love with Josh. Although Josh had told her that he wanted her to stop taking the growth serum and live a normal life, she took a higher dosage of it so that she could become a replacement for Reva.

Meanwhile, Josh told both Matt and Cassie the truth about Reva's death and the clone. Just as Josh and Cassie decided to help the clone to have a life of her own, Josh showed up at Michael's apartment shocked to see a very grown up "Reva." Later, Josh had a dream that Reva was very much alive. The dream was so real that he called the Coast Guard in Florida to see if they had any news on Reva. He was sadly told that the plane had been found and that there was no chance for survivors. By now, the clone was preparing to be introduced to the rest of the Lewis family. She began to plan how she would make love to Josh on her first night home, and confided in Cassie, who was determined to stop this from happening. She went to Josh and told him of the clone's plan, but Josh told her not to worry, he had no plans of allowing that to happen. The clone arrived at the Lewis home to a surprise party where Buzz became suspicious of the "new Reva." She didn't even recognize him!

As Buzz was busy trying to find out what was going on with his ex-wife, Josh took the clone's advice and took her to Cross Creek so that they could have a new start. The clone found Reva's wedding dress that Josh was having remade to surprise Reva, and when Josh saw her in the dress, he thought he was seeing Reva, and they made love. When the morning sun arose, Josh realized that he had made love to Reva's clone, and that his Reva was never coming home again. He longed to be with his true love and realized that while the clone looked exactly like his "dead" wife, she would never be able to capture her spirit, which is what made Josh love her so much. He confided this in the clone, and she ran away, calling Buzz and telling him that she was not Reva, but a clone to replace Josh's wife who had died tragically in a plane crash. Buzz called Josh and told him what the clone had confided in him, and gave Josh advice to get help for her because she was mentally unstable.

Meanwhile, Reva, who had survived on an island, returned home and was taken captive by the clone and locked up in the lighthouse. She eventually talked the clone into allowing her to "teach" her how to love Josh. In reality, this was Reva's plan to find her way back to Josh. The plan started to work, with Josh becoming suspicous--first after he found the ring that Reva dropped in their house (a ring that should have "died" with her, and after the clone said something that only he and Reva knew, until Josh decided he must be overreacting since he was certain Reva was dead.

The clone eventually took the children captive and told Reva that she needed to go home to Josh, pretending to be the clone and to make Josh love her like he loved Reva. Josh couldn't believe how much the clone had changed. It was just like being with Reva. He made love to her and he knew that it was Reva. The reality of it had his head spinning out of control, and he ran out of the house in confusion. Reva had tried to tell him that it was her that she was alive. He refused to believe it though until he saw their initials carved in the Lighthouse. Soon, he ran home to tell Reva that he believed her, only to find the clone there once again. Josh saw the changes in her, and began to think that he was losing his mind. As the summer went on, the clone eventually locked Reva up in the pool house at the Lewis home. To placate the suspicious clone and put off her desire for love-making, Josh proposes marriage.

Meanwhile Reva, realizing that the clone was preparing to leave her to die, talked the clone into bringing her a camcorder so that she could watch tapes of the kids. Reva made a video tape telling Josh that she was locked up in the pool house. She conned the clone into watching the tape with Josh and the kids, telling her that it was films of the family that would help them to bond together. The clone returned to the house and popped in the tape, stopping it just in time to realize what Reva had done. Josh overheard a part of the tape, but it didn't really hit him what he was hearing and he and the clone headed off to Cross Creek to get married. Reva was left to starve to death in the pool house.

In the car on the way to Cross Creek, the clone began to ask Josh how it felt to starve to death. Her guilt was getting the better of her, and as she asked more questions, Josh began to put the pieces together and remembered hearing Reva's voice on the videotape. He turned his car around and sped home to save his dying wife. Running into the pool house, Josh was shocked to see 2 Reva's! Their eyes met and as Reva saw her soul mate once again, she passed out in his arms in relief.

Josh took her back into the house, called Michael, and they were able to get Reva on the road to recovery. Josh took care of Reva that night as the clone spent the night with Harley and Cassie. Together again, there was a huge sigh of relief. But they now had to figure out what to do with the clone. After the excitement of their reunion began to settle, Reva had a lot of unresolved anger with Josh for cloning her, for giving up on their love. But Reva bonded with the clone out of pity and made her over into her long-lost cousin, Dolly.

With her new identity, the clone finally had a name of her own. She began to settle into her new identity and Josh and Reva decided to give her a new life in Italy. Dolly, still very much in love with Josh, decided to take a different route. She overdosed on the aging serum so that she would die, and Josh and Reva would be able to move on with their life together. She asked Josh to take her to Cross Creek one more time on their way to Italy so that she could say goodbye to the memories. Not long after arriving in Cross Creek, Josh received a phone call from Reva saying that she had found the empty bottle of aging serum. Reva raced to Cross Creek to take care of the clone while Josh looked all over for the antidote to the serum.

When he finally found it, he fumbled and dropped it behind the couch that Dolly was laying on. Neither he nor Reva could get at it and so a very old Dolly died in Reva's arms. Things got sticky for Josh and Reva after Dolly's death, because Reva blamed him for what had happened to this poor woman. Josh was truly sorry for what he had done, but Reva continued to pull away from him, until Dolly appeared to her to tell her that she was in a better place. She told Reva to love Josh, and move on with her life. Reva, finally able to let go of all that happened, informed an elated Josh that it was over, that she was in love with him, and wanted to move on.

Now Josh and Reva decided to take a vacation at a cabin that H.B. and Martha used to go to. Once there, they ran into an old country boy who claimed the cabin as his own, so they were off to Hawaii for a real vacation. They returned home just in time for the reign of terror of the Nursery Rhyme stalker. The stalking continued for a while, but Reva doubted that it was Annie since she hadn't been targeted.

Later, Marah received a note in her locker at school from none other than Annie! A new detective named Teri DeMarco came to town to help Frank investigate the stalker case. It soon became clear that she was up to no good. Teri began to drug Josh with a truth serum and started programming him to believe that he was no longer in love with Reva, but with her. Josh resisted, but eventually began to do whatever it was that Teri suggested to him when he was under the influence of the drug. She admitted to Josh that she was Annie and began to tell Josh to put the moves on Cassie. Her plan was to put separation between Reva and Cassie first and then take Josh away from her, so that she could destroy everything that was important to Reva. Josh began to really pursue a very pregnant Cassie, and Cassie decided to leave town.

Annie, disguised as Det. Teri DeMarco, stepped up her plan to get Josh by putting the solution into his aftershave bottle and telling him to use it several times a day. Josh began to pursue Teri/Annie with a renewed fervor, while Reva was left wondering what had happened to her loving husband. Eventually, although Reva and Josh were being torn apart, they figured out Annie's plan, and put a stop to it. Josh went into the hospital, and was positively tested for the drug. So they realized that Teri was connected to Annie. Not to be stopped in their love for each other, Josh, Reva, and their children were reunited just in time for Christmas and vowed to get to the bottom of the latest mystery.

In 1999, Josh began to remember that he had spoken to both Annie and Teri in the potting shed on Halloween when Teri drugged him for the first time. Josh and Reva knew that Teri wasn’t who she claimed to be and they thought she was working for Annie. Josh realized that he had been drugged with the truth serum they had given to Ken Norris when they thought he was the stalker. Little by little his memory started to come back. Josh and Reva went down to the police station hoping Frank would question Teri. When Frank started to grill her, Teri maintained her innocence. She thought she’d throw them off track by having them believe that Alan was the true enemy and the evidence of the drug was in the safe. Alan put the clues together that Teri and Annie were one and the same and he protected her. Since Josh and Reva now believed that Annie was alive, they went undercover as Hollywood producers at a spa near the Florida Keys. A clerk recognized a picture of Ms. Dutton and they found out that Teri and Annie had become friends.

They came to learn that one of them was in an accident and the clinic was on the island. As they searched every room looking for Annie, Josh got the surprise of his life and called Reva into the room. The nurse told them she had been in a coma for 8 months from a water skiing accident. Reva asked about visitors and the nurse said a blond woman made all the arrangements and her only visitor was her twin Teri. Once the nurse left the room, Reva rearranged the letters on the chart. Tonia T. Dunne actually spelled out Annie Dutton. Josh and Reva realized that Annie was wearing Teri's face. Back home, Josh and Reva explained everything to Frank but he didn't believe them. Josh and Reva went to Teri's apartment looking for fingerprints, but when they got there the door was open. When they went inside they found Teri unconscious and on the floor. Reva didn't believe Teri was really sick, but Josh called 911 anyway. Frank then accused Reva of attempted murder of Teri and, while Josh tried to took the blame to save Reva, Ross dropped all charges against her. Eventually, they were able to get Teri and Annie in the same room, and prove that their story was true.

At Annie's arraignment, Billy showed up with bad news. They were on the verge of losing Lewis Oil to Alan. While Josh had been drugged by Teri, he had missed out on a big land deal that would surrender control of Lewis oil. To make matters worse, the stalker, who turned out to be Holly Reade, had kidnapped Springfield's children, including Shayne. Annie ended up finding her way out of jail, and was able to locate the missing children. She called Reva from the summer camp where Holly was hiding the kids and Reva showed up just in time to step out onto a bridge and stop Holly from ending her life. As she reached out to save Holly, they both began to fall. Josh showed up was able to save both women. Back home, with the kids safe and sound, Josh and Reva were treated to a party to say thank you and goodbye from their friends and family at Lewis Oil. It was the end of an era. Phillip became CEO of Lewis Oil and he refused to sell it to the Lewis'. Finally free, Josh and Reva got engaged.

During this time, Reva and Josh planned to have another baby. Then Reva discovered an old ring that left her with a disturbed feeling. Reva began to have dreams of rocking a baby and having it snatched away from her. She shared the dream with Josh but he didn't believe that it was something mysterious.

Later, while planning their honeymoon, Josh mentioned San Cristobel, and it seemed familiar to Reva. Josh surprised Reva with a letter from Sarah that had been lost in the mail. In it, Sarah spoke of how her dream was to be at Josh and Reva's second wedding. Josh assured Reva that Sarah would be at their wedding in spirit. While looking at a newspaper, Reva saw a picture of a ring very similar to hers with the symbol for San Cristobel on it. She figured it was Sarah's way of telling her that San Cristobel should be their honeymoon spot, and Josh agreed. In May, Josh and Reva were married at the Country Club and Annie tell them her goodbye for good!

Reva then underwent hypnosis to remember her past and get behind the meaning of her dreams. Under hypnosis, she discovered a book with the dates of her missing years on it. Once she was awake, Josh and Reva agreed to stick together as they went to San Cristobel to unlock the secrets of her past. Immediately after arriving there, Josh and Reva became puzzled when Reva was treated like royalty. Reva met Olivia Spencer, and told Josh that she thought she knew her when she lived in San Cristobel during her missing years. They decided to take the ring to a jeweler there to see if he could help them to unravel the mystery behind it. When they went back to the jewelers to pick up the ring, they were arrested by the San Cristobel authorities and charged with grand theft for stealing the ring. They were taken not to jail but to a palace where Josh was locked in the dungeon, and Reva was kept upstairs in a beautiful, gold-adorned room. Josh was allowed to visit with Reva once before he was tricked into believing that she would be meeting him at the airport to return home.

Once at the airport, Josh figured out that Reva would not be meeting him there, but he was forced to leave without her. Later, Josh showed up at the palace and Reva and Prince Richard Winslow told him the painful truth: that Reva had been Richard's wife as Catherine eight ago, and they had a son together, Jonathan. A stunned Josh said he wanted to stay with Reva to help her through this but Richard insisted that he leave, and Reva agreed to stay in San Cristobel alone for a while to find the missing links to her past. Josh and Reva shared a painful and tear-filled goodbye.

Meanwhile, Richard planned a masquerade ball to celebrate the day the he and "Catherine" had been married. Reva had since developed a closeness to Richard, and agreed to be "Catherine" for him one more time, the night of the ball. At the ball, Reva asked Richard's brother Edmund Winslow to meet her in private to talk about Richard, and Edmund took her captive at gunpoint. At the same time, after some planning with Billy, Josh returned to San Cristobel with Jim Lemay, Michelle and Danny Santos, Cassie and Matt for the "Rescue Reva Mission." To accomplish their goal they attended the mask ball, and there Josh set off a bomb to distract everyone.

However, but Reva had already been kidnapped. Josh searched for Reva with Olivia Spencer's help and she told him about Edmund's villainess nature, including the reason why "Catherine" left to begin with: Edmund was planning on murdering Catherine and her son, Jonathan in order to secure the throne.

Meanwhile, Edmund dragged Reva to the beach and then into a cave. Reva got him to kiss her only to punch his wound to flee but Edmund was able to catch her anyway and tied her up to let her drown in the cave. Later, Edmund showed up in the castle to demand the throne from Richard in exchange for telling him Reva's whereabouts. When Edmund realized that Richard would never really agree, he used Cassie as a shield and escaped with his car. Josh and Richard then teamed up and followed Edmund to the cliffs, whereupon Richard and Edmund fought and a shocked Josh watched them both go over the cliffs. The brothers were holding each other and although Josh was able to rescue Richard, Edmund fell to his "death." Because Edmund was the only one who knew Reva's whereabouts, Richard punched Josh but finally realized himself where Reva was. So they rushed to the cave and rescued Reva.

As for the others (Danny, Michelle, Matt and Jim), they were about to be killed by Col. Dax and his men because the Colonel thought they were involved in Edmund’s "death", until Josh and Richard showed up at the last moment to tell everyone that Edmund was the "bad guy." As for Cassie, she wasn't with the group but was able to track Olivia, who had hid Jonathan with her sister and brother-in-law years earlier.

Now, Olivia, and her sister and brother-in-law, Marissa and Alfred Randall, Jonathan's adoptive parents, tried to get Jonathan out of San Cristobel. But Cassie found them and arranged for Richard and Reva to see Jonathan but after Edmund visited Jonathan and he told Reva about the visit, Reva realized that Edmund was still alive and a danger to Jonathan. So she arranged Jonathan's escape without consulting Richard and left the island with Josh. Whereupon Richard followed them to Springfield to win Reva back.

When Reva and Richard were about to make love at Cross Creek, Josh and Cassie arrived just in time to stop them. They returned to Springfield, but Josh realized that Reva had unresolved feelings for Richard and he tried to give her the time that she needed to work through them. Eventually, though, Josh realized that Reva needed to explore her feelings for Richard. She had become almost obsessive over Richard's growing interest in Cassie, and Josh finally let go. In a very emotional moment, Josh and Reva said their goodbyes. They realized that their time together was not now. They had too many things that had happened to them over the years, and this thing with Richard was the final straw. Their eyes met, and through tears, they admitted their love for one another kissed goodbye.

Meanwhile, Phillip wanted the men to work on the San Cristobel project for Spaulding but instead Josh, Matt, Billy and Jim quit their jobs. While Josh and Billy then created Lewis Construction, Josh began to confide in Olivia, after he rescued her from committing suicide. He grew closer to her, as Reva began to realize that her feelings for Richard were not as strong as she had thought. After the New Year of 2000, Josh and Olivia made love and, to Josh's dismay, Olivia told Reva about the night.

While Reva tried to win Josh back, Josh fought about his feelings for Reva and Olivia, while Marah and Shayne tried to separate him and Olivia during Reva's absence in Tulsa. Josh then got drunk one night and Selena Davis told him that it was time for him to make a decision between Reva and Olivia. So, a drunken Josh went to Olivia's room, and proposed marriage to her but Olivia threw him out since she knew it wasn't from the heart.

The next day, Josh apologized to Olivia for his behavior at dinner. Marah decided to take matters into her own hands when she saw Josh and Olivia dancing together and kissing. She ordered flowers and had them sent to Reva with a card reading, "Missing you...Josh." When Reva returned home, she thanked Josh for the flowers and Josh, knowing he hadn't sent them, covered for her anyway since he didn't want her to be embarrassed in front of Olivia. Outside, on the porch, Josh told Reva that she looked good, and that he had missed her. She confronted him about the flowers, and he admitted to not sending them. At the same time, Reva had begun dating Dr. Noah Chase, a situation that caused Josh to be jealous. Josh's reaction wasn't lost on Olivia who suggested that they stop seeing each other since he obviously still had feelings for Reva.

Then when Olivia started dating a man named Wes, Josh decided to stop pining for Reva once and for all and convinced Olivia to move in with him. Soon after, Josh and Reva initiate divorce proceedings. Reva and Josh's lawyers tried to convince each of them to get custody of the children, but they each separately insisted that the children be left out of this. Later, Reva became enraged when she saw Josh's lawyer's, Vince Russo, noted that claim that Josh was planning to sue for custody of the children, so she furiously threw an ice bucket at Josh and accidentally doused his lawyer, Vince Russo, instead. Although Vince insisted on pressing charges against Reva, Josh convinced him not to press charges.

Later, Reva was shocked after hearing of Josh and Olivia's bathtub incident from Marah and she threatened to take full custody of the children. Meanwhile, with Olivia's encouragement, Vince used Reva's spotted past to gain leverage in the divorce. Later, after Vince and Ernest's (Reva's lawyer) arguing went too far, an angry Josh and Reva fired their lawyers. Reva and Josh argued over various points of the divorce, but they ended up apologizing for the pain they've caused each other. Later, Josh and Billy learned from Holly, that Spaulding was behind the Macedonia company which funded a construction site. And Josh was angry when Spaulding refused his offer. Not long after, thanks to illegal workers and Maria Santos, the construction site collaborated and, unlike Billy and Bill, Josh was injured under the ruins. Reva was able to save Josh with help of an illegal worker named Diego but Diego himself died in the process. While Josh was now laying at Cedars, Reva visited him but he didn't notice her.

When Josh asked Olivia if Reva had visited him, Olivia denied it, which made Josh sad. After Josh's divorce finally became final, he asked Olivia to marry him. Josh and Olivia became a couple in the process. In January 2001, as Josh and Olivia planned to walk down the aisle as man and wife, The day of the wedding though, Blake handed Josh her cell phone and On the other line was Reva who explained to Josh that Marah was in danger. Olivia insisted that it was just a ploy by Marah to ruin their nuptials, but Josh called the police and rushed off to save Marah. However, it did turn out to be a ruse by Marah to disrupt Josh’s wedding. The plan didn’t work though and Josh and Olivia married.

Unfortunately Olivia was insecure about Josh and Reva's relationship and, to impress him, she helped to found the San Cristobel Harbor project. As the months went by, Alan and Olivia grew closer as a result, especially when the project hit some financial roadblocks.

Meanwhile, Holly told Reva how Olivia managed a deal for Lewis Construction and Edmund to work on the Harbor Project together. A furious Reva demanded that Holly take her to speak with Josh. Olivia returned home to Josh and was immediately interrupted when a furious Reva arrived. Although Reva was outraged that Josh approved Lewis Construction’s deal with Edmund, Josh told Reva that she was no longer involved in business decisions for the company and he asked her to back off.

Finally, desperate, Olivia called Alan begging him to help fix her financial books. So, Alan gained Olivia's gratitude by fixing the books and telling her that she owed him one. As the weeks went by, Olivia continued to experience money troubles and kept asking Alan for help. Then one day, Alan complied on one condition--she sleep with him. Although Olivia initially refused, soon she realized that she had no choice and complied. Meanwhile, Reva, who was temporarily blinded, was caught in a earthquake in San Cristobel. Josh was anxious to help Reva, but Olivia is only concerned about the Harbor Project.

In San Cristobel, Josh arrived to help Noah and Richard rescue Reva. Reva desperately called for help, but no one could hear her. Josh’s efforts to save her resulted in a loosening and crashing down around her. Olivia arrived and continued to try and convince everyone that Reva could not have survived. Noah thought he heard Reva trying to communicate with them, but an unconscious Reva didn’t respond until she heard Josh’s voice. While Josh tried to free Reva from the rubble, his drilling hit a pipe and causes Reva’s airshaft to fill with steam. Josh corrected the problem, but Reva was still in danger. He promised Reva that he was going to be with her the whole time until they get her out from under the rubble. While digging to rescue Reva, Josh finds the tape that Reva and Cassie got from Scarface. Both Noah and Josh volunteered to descend down to Reva to bring her back to the surface. Josh agrees to let Noah go down to save Reva. Noah fastened her into the harness, but as they finally raise her up another aftershock hits!

In San Cristobel, Noah and Reva survived the aftershock. He told her how much he loved her. Josh pulled Reva to the surface. Reva and Josh work together to save Noah and they get him out of the shaft just before it collapsed. Meanwhile, Reva was suspicious that Olivia's involvement in the Harbor Project was less then honest and finally got proof--a photo of Olivia giving a bribe to a government official. However, Alan learned of Reva's evidence and had the photo doctored to show that Josh was involved in the bribery! Luckily for Josh, Tony Santos of all men, whom Josh detested as Marah's boyfriend, found proof for Josh's innocence. As time went back, Alan was determined to win Olivia away from Josh, even leaving behind his money clip so Josh would suspect that Alan and Olivia had had an affair. Wanting to destroy Josh, Alan also conducted some insider trading (with an unknowing Olivia's help) that resulted in him owing 51% of Lewis Construction. Unfortunately, for Alan, it was all an elaborate set-up from Josh and Billy to trap Olivia and Alan in unscrupulous business practices. Wanting revenge,

In January 2002, Alan decided to destroy the Harbor Project, thus ruining Lewis Construction. Later, Reva tried to tell Josh about her mysterious time-trip to Civil War America through a portrait of a woman, Regina, who looked just like Olivia. However, when it became obvious that he didn't believe her, she covered by stating that she was talking about a dream. Reva collapsed again and was taken to the hospital. When Felicia visited her, Reva couldn't stop talking about how she had to save Jack. Felicia didn’t believe her ranting until Reva told her about Hannah, who ran the Underground Railroad. Felicia was shocked that Reva knew so much about Felicia’s heritage, but still believed that Reva may have been delusional. Meanwhile, Josh and Billy tried to decipher what Reva was telling them about the portrait of Regina. They found a picture of General Hudson, whom Reva talked about, in Shayne’s history book and Billy revealed that the General is related to Alan. Josh ran to the hospital to tell Reva what he discovered, but she gone.

Meanwhile, Reva went home and found the portrait gone! When she demanded to know what he did with it, Josh, Josh demanded an explanation for the portrait and its significance. Reva finally revealed all that she knew about the past, including the role that he played in it. She told Josh that Alan and Olivia were having an affair. Just then, Alan and Olivia arrived. Reva tried to pressure Josh to confront Olivia and Alan while they were together. He decided not to and also refused Reva’s request to bring back the portrait for her. Reva went upstairs, leaving Josh alone with Alan and Olivia. She eavesdropped from the top of the stairs and overheard Josh agree to Alan’s suggestion that Reva be admitted into a psychiatric hospital in Austria. However, what Alan and Olivia didn’t know was that Josh was lying to them. Later, Billy brought the painting back and Reva was thrilled that Josh believed her. He then told her his plan to catch Alan and Olivia in an insider-trading scam that would end with them both being thrown in jail. Josh wished Reva luck with her journey to save Jack and he went off to Company where he started to set the trap for Olivia. Reva later returned and ran straight into Josh’s arms and the two headed off to Alan’s.

There, Olivia was horrified when Alan announced that he owned 51% percent of Lewis Construction. Reva, Josh and the SEC burst in to arrest Alan. Josh stood by while the SEC arrests Olivia as well. Despite Josh’s reservations, Reva walked through the painting to see what Alan will do to them. Josh moved through the portrait and found himself in 1940’s Paris. General Krieger and Marie Laval, Alan and Olivia look-alikes arrested him and accused him of being Reva’s co-conspirator. Krieger beat up Josh and saw the portrait of Regina, decides that he liked it and took it away with him. He gave an order for Reva and Josh to be executed. Reva realizes that Josh trusted her enough to step through the painting and they set their minds on finding the portrait. Reva thought that Josh should concentrate on learning something from the past, like what was in Krieger’s secret bag, rather than just getting home. In Paris, Reva discovered where General Krieger was keeping the painting. Josh and Reva came up with a plan to use Marie to help them escape. Josh flirted with Marie and then knocked her unconscious. He then knocked out the guard. He and Reva were prepared to escape from the wine cellar as they heard the sound of tanks approaching in the background.

But, Josh and Reva couldn’t find the portrait of Regina and grew concerned that they might be trapped in the past. When they found the painting, Reva was torn between returning to Springfield and staying to help a resistance fighter. They decided to stay, helped the resistance fighter named Robert, who was the spitting image of Shayne, and stole General Krieger’s satchel that was filled with his plans. Reva discovered how Krieger’s plans affected her and Josh. Before she can tell him what she has discovered, Ronnie Neames, an American soldier who looked like Billy, arrived and insisted that they all celebrate the liberation of Paris. Reva and Josh acknowledged their special connection and realized that always be in each other’s lives. They grew passionate as they considered the idea of living happily ever after. Later, Reva discovered General Krieger’s secret papers hidden in the portrait and gave the worker orders to ship the portrait back to New Orleans. Josh and Reva then put their heads together and figured out that Alan was making plans to destroy the Harbor Project.

So, in 2002, Josh and Reva collected more information about Alan’s plan to destroy the Harbor Project. They found Olivia and warned her that they were not going to let her and Alan destroy them. Olivia, not knowing what they were talking about, proclaimed her innocence. Reva believed Olivia and convinced Josh that she may be the only person who could find out the truth from Alan. They devised a plan and Olivia approached Alan. In an effort to comfort a seemingly hysterical Olivia, Alan told her his whole plan to destroy the project, which Josh overheard via Olivia’s cell phone. Josh and Reva then confronted him and managed to persuade Alan to call off his plan by threatening to reveal a public relations nightmare – that his ancestors were tied to the Nazi’s. Alan agreed to their demands, which included selling back Lewis Oil.

Josh joined Reva and they bonded when they found a photo of them in Paris, proving the adventure they were on was real. A few months after their reunion, Josh surprised Reva, at Cross Creek by asking Hawk for his daughter's hand in marriage and the couple married in June in a beautiful ceremony at Cassie's new hotel, with many old friends and relatives in attendance. Yet again life with Reva proved to be a roller coaster ride for Josh, as he tried his best to support her after she pulled ex-husband Richard's plug, went on trial, and plead guilty to spare her sister Cassie more pain. He managed to get Reva a pardon from the governor, but she began to receive threatening phone calls. On top of all this, Marah reconciled with mobster Tony Santos, who had tried to rape her several months prior. Josh was horrified and could barely contain his disgust with the situation. Josh was forced to put his disgust aside however when Reva started receiving threatening phone calls.

Though the Lewises tried to combat the situation by changing their number, the calls continued and the situation escalated in stalking. Scared for Reva's safety, as well as the rest of the family, Josh reluctantly accepted Tony's offer to help and protect Marah. In the coming weeks, the threats grew worse until finally Reva decided to flush out the stalker at WSPR. It was at WSPR that Tony redeemed himself to Josh by saving the day and the stalker's identity was revealed--it was Olivia! Though Olivia denied her involvement, and other members of the family (Reva included) had doubts, Olivia was charged with the crime. The threat seemingly over, the Lewis family went on with their lives. Or so they thought. Olivia was soon able to prove her innocence and the blame shifted to a mentally unstable Alan. However, Reva was still convinced that neither Olivia nor Alan was her stalker. Relying on her newfound psychic abilities Reva helped Alan smoke out her real stalker--Alexandra! Apparently Alex used the stalking as a distraction to keep Reva from digging up Spaulding secrets. Though they now had the evidence to get Alex sent to jail, Alan covered for Alex to further his own agenda.

Now finally free to go on with their lives, Josh and Reva found themselves at odds over Josh's obsessive need to help Shayne build a baseball career. Believing that Josh had regrets about the career choices he made in his youth, Reva advised him to back off and let Shayne get an education. Suddenly Shayne found himself faced with an impossible choice: should he attend Stanford on a baseball scholarship, or try out for the professional draft. Convinced by Reva to sign both contracts and make the decision after his prom, Shayne still found the choice unbearable. Overhearing Shayne say he wished someone else could make the choice for him, Josh took Shayne at his word and secretly mailed in the draft contract. He then proceeded to scold Shayne for missing practices and quilted him by saying that he regretted not making his own father happy by becoming a professional baseball player. (which Billy reminded Josh was a lie. HB wanted nothing more than for Josh to head up Lewis Oil)

Later, the night of Shayne's prom, Josh was elated to learn that Shayne had been picked up by the Chicago Cubs and the following day, after hearing Shayne say he wanted to go out for the draft, he told Shayne what he'd done. Though Shayne was angry at first at being denied the chance to make his own choice, he soon became elated at the chance to play major league baseball. Less forgiving was Reva, who saw Josh's act as a betrayal. Later that summer, Josh's obsession with Shayne would lead to tragedy. Concerned all summer that Shayne wasn't taking his new career seriously, Josh was infuriated to learn that Shayne was at a concert with Marina on the night he was supposed to meet with the Cub's general manager. Angry that Shayne was putting his personal life above his professional life, Josh raced to the concert to drag Shayne back home.

Unfortunately, as Josh was driving on that rainy night, he hit an incoming car. Bruised, Josh went to help the other driver who was horribly injured only to discover that it was Shayne! Later in the hospital, a distraught and regretful Josh was horrified to learn that as a result of his injuries, Shayne would be temporarily mute and unable to walk. Sympathizing with Shayne's condition was easier for Josh since he'd been through and remembered Bert Bauer's words of encouragement when he was paralyzed. Meanwhile, blaming Josh for Shayne's predicament, Reva was unable to give him comfort and support, prompting him to move out of their house. Though both Marah and Billy lambasted Reva for being unreasonable and not supporting Josh when he needed her, she couldn't find it in her to forgive him.

Meanwhile, on October 17th, Josh and Billy paid their annual visit to the grave of Maryanne Caruthers, a woman who died 26 years earlier. Unfortunately the secret of Maryanne Caruthers was about to be discovered when out of the blue Marah asked Josh about the woman. Though he denied any knowledge of her, it was clear to Marah that Josh was lying. When the Lewis men learned that Ed and Buzz had both been asked about Maryanne, Billy called a meeting with the others telling them to not worry about anything. The only ones who know what really happened that night are them; all anyone else may have is hearsay and speculation. But unfortunately, Marah, Michelle Bauer and Marina Cooper kept asking about Maryanne, no matter how many times they were told to drop it. In the midst of worrying about Marah's growing curiosity about Maryanne, Josh was honored when Shayne unexpectedly asked him to be his rehabilitation coach. Meanwhile, one day, the newspaper had a shocking headline--the car Maryanne Caruthers’s car was dragged out of the river. Knowing that someone had to be out to get them, since no one knew where that car was, Billy who’d learned that Reva had a vision of Josh at a graveyard, told Josh to stay away from her since she may be able to read his mind. That same day, Reva surprised Josh by asking him to move back in to the house, but heeding Billy's words, Josh declined and distanced himself from Reva.

It was at this point, in January 2004 that the secret of Maryanne started to unravel. One day, all the men involved, who included Alan, met secretly. After some discussions, tempers got flared and Ed was on the verge of confessing, but an angry Billy confronted him and tried to punch him, only to hit Buzz when he stepped between them! It was then that they discussed what happened on that fateful night. In the 1970's, Billy had made several trips to Springfield, in order to scope the area out as a potential site for Lewis Oil. Billy talked Josh, a college student at the time, into accompanying him on one visit that would lead to disaster. For on the fateful night of October 17th, 1977, Billy and Josh would visit the Springfield Fair with their new acquaintances, Ed, Buzz and Alan.

At the Fair, drinking beer and carousing, Alan would point out the lovely, very conceited Maryanne Caruthers and form a plan. Wanting to see the cold Maryanne make a fool of herself, Alan showed the other young men a vial of powder that contained a drug that he wanted to use on Maryanne to loosen her up. Although the other men weren't fond of the idea, they knew that Alan would do what he wanted. Though Billy warned Alan to not drug his brother's drink, Alan decided to drug the entire pitcher of beer, thus affecting all of them. Not long after, the group, plus Maryanne, went joy riding, but an ill Maryanne asked to be driven home. It was then that Alan, who was driving the car, sped across Cutter's Bridge and suddenly unexpectedly went off the road! Though all 5 men made it out of the river (with Billy saving Josh's life and Buzz saving Ed), Maryanne didn't surface. Though Alan told the men any attempt to go into the water to look for Maryanne was pointless since the water was too rough, Billy and Buzz dove in anyway, but failed to find any trace of Maryanne, Knowing they helped cause Maryanne's death, Alan, Wanting to preserve their lives, Alan persuaded the others to move on with their lives and forget that they ever knew a woman named Maryanne Caruthers. Now, almost 30 years later, it appeared as if their secret was in danger of being discovered.

Knowing they all had too much to lose, Alan convinced them to maintain their silence and they sealed their agreement by placing their hands on top of one another’s as if to say "all for one, and one for all." The same day, Billy and Josh were shocked when Marah suddenly confronted them with the entire story of their connection to Maryanne and handed them a pick envelope! Reading the letter that Marah had delivered, the brothers learned that Alan was right--an anonymous witness knew the truth about what had happened and told them they'd pay the price. Under extreme stress, Josh secluded himself and Billy almost turned back to drink. Finally, Josh decided that the secret had stayed buried long enough and told Billy that he was going to confess everything to the police, only he'd tell them that he acted alone. Although Billy did his best to persuade Josh to reconsider, even punching him, Josh was adamant. After spending what he saw as his last night of freedom with Reva, Josh was set to confess all to the police, that is until he learned that someone may have tried to kill Michelle Bauer!

Realizing that Marah could be in danger, Josh put off confessing and decided to instead investigate who was trying to destroy him and the others. Finally the mystery was solved on Valentine's Day when a mysterious older woman approached all 5 men separately and made veiled references to an event that happened almost thirty years ago. Instinctively knowing that she was the mystery person, their suspicions were confirmed when the woman, who was Maryanne's Aunt Carrie, met with them and demanded that they meet her at the old Fairgrounds, where it would all end. Days later, the men met at the Fairgrounds and were confronted by a horrific scenario. Led into a hall of mirrors, Carrie announced her plan--one of the girls would be killed in place of Maryanne; the men would have to choose. Horrified by her insanity, the men realized that the girls, who seemed in a dazed state, were in the Hall of Mirrors, but had trouble locating because the mirrors kept them from seeing what was real and what wasn't. Although Ed was able to locate Marina and Michelle and lead them outside to safety, Marah remained missing for a while longer. Then came a startling chain of events. Carrie suddenly appeared brandishing a gun, poised to shoot.

However, because of the mirrors no one could tell what was the real Carrie. Although Buzz got out his gun (that he brought at Alan's insistence, so that they could take care of the threat), he was caught unaware by Carrie who shot him in the arm! Then Carrie pointed her gun at Josh and was set to fire when a shot rang out, apparently killing Carrie! Shot in the back, Carrie fell through the trap door at the bottom of the Hall and her body was rushed away by the river below. Seeing a dazed Marah holding the smoking gun, Josh decided to take the blame and there and then, he and the others created an elaborate story about how he shot Carrie in self-defense. That night, Ed took Marah home, where Michelle and Marina were waiting, told all the girls to not tell anyone they were at the Fairgrounds -- if anyone asked, they were together at the Museum.

In the meantime, Josh went to the police and confessed to murdering Carrie, who he painted as a deranged woman angry about not getting a job, in self-defense. Josh also decided that for the story to make sense, Alan could not have been there since he and Alan were never friends. Unfortunately, things would end up getting very complicated very quickly. Although the men thought they concocted an airtight story, in reality, it was flawed. Not only were the police suspicious of the statements of Buzz, Billy, and Ed (since there stories were too similar; almost rehearsed), but Alan found himself caught in a lie when he claimed not to be at the Fairgrounds and then was reported to have been spotted there.

While the police had doubts about Josh's story, so did Reva who told Josh that she knew he was lying and asked him to tell her the truth. Tired of keeping the truth from her, Josh finally told Reva the secret of Maryanne. Meanwhile, not long after, Marah suddenly remembered the events of that night and confessed to the police! While Marah took responsibility for Carrie's death, Alan stepped up and took responsibility for Maryanne's by accepting a deal with the D.A.-immunity for her death in exchange for Spaulding's files. Meanwhile, the Lewises were doing their best to help Marah who was in danger of being taken to trial for murder. In an attempt to save Marah, Reva, who had been having visions of Maryanne for several weeks now, went to the Fairgrounds to do some investigating and with Harley's help came to a stunning revelation--Carrie faked her death! Going down to the underground tunnels under the trap door Carrie fell through, the ladies discovered Carrie alive! Although Carrie was able to escape, thanks to Harley, her confession was on tape. However, even that wasn't enough, they had to find Carrie.

Desperate to help Marah, Reva had herself hypnotized so she could finally speak with Maryanne. The plan worked and Maryanne showed Reva what happened that night in October 1977. Although the events happened as Carrie told the girls they had there was more to the story. It was then that Maryanne showed that she felt trapped by her controlling Aunt Carrie. Not only that, but Maryanne had survived that crash! Washed ashore on the other side of the river, she had been f0und and murdered by Carrie herself! Although the hypnosis almost cost Reva her life, she recovered and Carrie herself was apprehended when she attempted to murder Reva. With the mystery over, the men were persuaded that in order to put this incident fully behind them they needed to assuage their guilt about Maryanne. And so they met one last time at Maryanne's grave and made a new pact. There new pact was to try to become the best men they could possibly be, the kind of men their kids can be proud of, the kind of men they should have been the night Maryanne died. As they did before, all men sealed the pact by placing their hands atop one another's.

With the secret finally out, Josh and Reva settled into a normal life again. Although their life was finally quiet, Josh's nephew Bill would find himself hurting after the death of his fiancée, Eden August. Angry and in despair, Bill started drinking heavily and acting erratically. Although Josh and Billy tried to get him to take leave from the company, Bill assured them that he was able to work. However, both men had their doubts, and when Olivia told Josh about Bill's destructive behavior (namely the fact that he held a gun on Tony Santos and trashed his own apartment). In lieu of what Olivia mentioned, as well as their own observations on Bill's drinking, Billy and Josh confronted Bill and asked him to step down as President of Lewis Construction in the interim.

However, Bill was quickly able to appease Josh and get back into the business. However, not long after, Bill severed ties with Lewis when Josh questioned his business practices, notably his working with Tony. Months later, Josh went on an extended trip to Cross Creek in order to prevent Phillip Spaulding from buying it out from the Lewis family. He returned over a month later to shocking news---Sandy was an imposter! Not only that, but the real Jonathan Randall had maliciously seduced Tammy, his own cousin. Disgusted by Jonathan's actions and Sandy's deception, Josh confronted a hospitalized Sandy (who was recovering after being struck by a car and getting a partial liver transplant from Reva) and blamed him for the pain Jonathan caused, since Sandy had been the one to steal Jonathan's life.

Branding Sandy a liar, Josh convinced the young man that if he truly cared for Reva as much as he claimed he'd leave town. Days later, Josh arrived home to find Jonathan's hands around Reva's throat and went after him. Although Reva protested, Josh angrily threw Jonathan out. Despite resistance from Josh, Reva was determined to not only reach out to Jonathan but Sandy as well. However, to Josh, what Jonathan did was unforgivable and he was convinced that he was dangerous. Wanting to protect Reva, Josh tried getting Jonathan arrested (by planting his wallet on Jonathan) and later bribing him. However, to his dismay, a defiant Jonathan refused to leave and later told Reva what Josh had done.

Although Jonathan had thought the revelation would drive a wedge between Reva and Josh, Reva instead forgave Josh. At the end of the year, Josh surprised Reva by allowing Jonathan to move into their home. However, his motives were not ultraistic, as he told Edmund, he was certain Jonathan would show his true colors to Reva. Cassie and Edmund's wedding day finally arrived in early 2005, although she almost missed when she mysteriously didn't show for hours. Convinced that Jonathan had something to do with the near-cancellation, Josh angrily threw Jonathan out of the Towers club when he crashed the wedding reception. Throwing him out, Josh angrily confronted Jonathan on the stairwell. During the argument, Jonathan spotted Tammy and seeing an opportunity to to drive Reva and Josh apart, he fell from the stairs, making it appear as if Josh shoved him.

Unfortunately that planned failed since no one actually believed that Josh pushed Jonathan. Soon after, Josh admitted to Reva that he'd been waiting for Jonathan to mess up so Reva would kick him out of her life. Though Josh decided it might be best if he just avoided Jonathan, that solution didn't work since it kept him away from Reva as well. Meanwhile, Josh offered Sandy his old job at Lewis Construction. When Sandy speculated if this wasn't just to get to Reva, Josh stated that he truly did want to give Sandy a second chance. In the meantime, the rift between Josh and Reva was growing larger, especially when he during an argument Reva had with Cassie about Jonathan's actions the night before her wedding, Josh sided with Cassie. Seeing that their living arrangement was not working out, Josh convinced Reva that Jonathan should move out when he recovered from the injuries he sustained in the fall. Meanwhile, Josh and Billy asked Bill to come back to Lewis Construction, but Bill turned them down.

Disappointed, Josh warned Bill about getting too involved in a life with Olivia. Later, Josh became annoyed when he learned that Reva's hanging out with Jonathan led to her almost being arrested. Although Reva dismissed his concerns, Josh was not happy to see Reva's wild side re-emerge. Still wanting Jonathan out of his life, Josh even tried to convince Cassie to tell Edmund how Jonathan had set her up the night before her wedding, but she refused since she knew (as Josh did) that Edmund would go ballistic on Jonathan. Days later, Josh finally decided to get through to Jonathan by dragging him to an impromptu physical therapy session at the gym. There, Josh brutally confronted Jonathan about his troubled life. Just as Jonathan was about to open up to Josh, Reva interrupted and stopped the session, leading Josh to believe that she didn't trust anyone else to heal Jonathan's demons. It was beginning to seem as if it was Reva and Jonathan against everyone else.

In the coming months, Reva found herself with a huge secret about Edmund and, upon learning that Edmund attacked Jonathan after he learned what happened the night before the wedding, she found herself in a conflict over whether to tell Cassie. Although Josh warned her to leave it alone so as not to hurt Cassie, he was dismayed when Cassie discovered the truth and immediately thought Reva had told her. (she hadn't; it was Jonathan who leaked it) It was becoming apparent that Jonathan's influence had awaken the impulsive side to Reva and Josh didn't like it.

That spring, Josh got two surprises. The first was Jonathan asking for a job at Lewis Construction and the second was Reva informing him she was pregnant. However, days later, they would discover that Reva was mistaken--she wasn't pregnant; she was entering menopause. Seeing how depressed Reva was about the prospect of entering menopause, Josh tried to lift her spirits but wasn't entirely successful. In the meantime, weeks after Jonathan made the request, Josh decided to hire him, mainly to please Reva. Weeks later, Josh came upon an angry Reva taking her frustrations out on her car. Not telling him what was wrong, Reva revealed that she quit her job at the station. It didn't take long for Josh to find out that was a lie though; she'd been fired. Confronted Reva about the lie, Josh then offered her a job as Lewis.

Unfortunately, Reva got insulted, believing it was a pity offer and the pair got at odds again. In the meantime, Josh decided to take Blake up on her previous offer to bring down Alan as retaliation for Alan firing Reva. Weeks later, Josh bought the station from Alan and offered Reva her job back. Cornered, Reva was forced to tell him that she'd been working at a bar for weeks now. Confused at first, Reva was able to explain to him that she was just trying to do something fun. Later, Reva tried to take Josh up on the job offer, but this time Josh urged her to stick with her bartending gig. Soon after, Josh got caught up in Reva's personal drama again when she confided her fears that Jonathan was reverting back to his old ways and asked Josh to keep an eye on him. However, Jonathan caught on that Reva asked Josh to "baby-sit" him and threatened to quit.

Josh didn't take the bait though and left Jonathan alone. Several days later, Josh returned from an out of town trip to some awful news. Apparently, when he was gone, Reva discovered that Nate was actually Jonathan's adoptive father, Alfred! If that wasn't bad enough, Reva set a trap for Nate to be caught stealing money from Lewis Construction. The plan backfired and the money went missing. Josh was upset and overwhelmed that Reva went behind his back. But she insisted that she needed one more chance to try and save Jonathan, whom she figured out took the money, before calling the cops, and Josh hesitantly agreed. Meanwhile Josh learned from Frank that witnesses stated that Reva and Nate were becoming extremely close. Realizing Reva wasn't honest with him Josh confronted her about her feelings and asked if she'd ever slept with Nate.

Although she confessed to flirting and being incredibly attracted to Nate, Reva assured him that nothing sexual actually happened, though something might have if she hadn't learned who he was. Hurt that she'd been attracted to another man, Josh moved out for the night. That same night, Reva set another trap for Nate that backfired, this time getting Tammy kidnapped. Luckily, in the end Tammy was freed when Jonathan agreed to go with his father. On the speedboat, Jonathan was resigned to his fate, certain that he didn’t deserve anything better than Nate, unaware the Reva lurked nearby, determined to change his mind. Reva's presence prompted a confrontation between Jonathan and Nate that ended in Jonathan apparently killing Nate in order to save Reva. A little later, while Reva was alone on the docks, Nate miraculously came out of the water and tried to kill Reva. Thankfully, Josh arrived just in time and threw him into the water, unaware that he'd thrown him into the boat propeller.

In the aftermath, Reva was injured. Josh promised her that he'd stick by her until she recovered, making it seem as if he was doing it out of obligation rather than love. In an effort to push Josh away, Reva allowed him to see her kissing another man. When Josh confronted her, Reva told Josh he was boring and she needed a break. Hurt, Josh left her alone. Weeks later, Reva and Josh got into a heated conversation where Josh admitted that though he wanted to get back together, he might not always be available in her frequent moments of crises. Later, when Reva misconstrued his intentions toward a flirtatious woman, the pair got into another argument. Later, Josh decided to take Stephanie (the flirtatious woman) up on her offer of a date. Unfortunately for him, his first date with young, beautiful Stephanie brought him to Outskirts where Billy was working. Billy tried to get Josh to see the error of his ways but Josh was in no mood and took his date elsewhere. In the meantime, weeks later, Olivia alerted Josh that Billy had fallen off the wagon and he came to find Billy partying it up with one of the men from the Venezuelan delegation.

Josh confronted Billy and removed him from the project and put Bill in charge. In quick succession, Bill left town (and Olivia) for Venezuela. At her request, Josh befriended a devastated Olivia that night. A little later, Josh caught Billy with a bottle of liquor and lashed out at him for not being strong enough to stop drinking. He washed his hands of Billy for the night and left. He then ran into Reva. Though there was a tentative connection between them, it ended when Reva rushed out. Meanwhile, with her now working at Lewis, Josh renewed his close friendship with Olivia. Then one night an emotional Reva opened up to them about their marriage. The emotional outpouring led to them making love. Although Josh thought this would lead to reconciliation, his hopes were dashed when he overheard Reva tell Olivia that although she may not want to reconcile with Josh, she’d do anything to keep Olivia from having him. Stung, Josh confronted Reva and they both came to the conclusion that their marriage was over. As this was going on, Cassie was facing another ordeal regarding Edmund and ended up getting kidnapped by him to San Cristobel.

Luckily, Josh and Jeffrey rescued her and Edmund was put in jail for good--but not before he could warn Josh that there was a connection between Jeffrey and Richard after all. Never having trusted Jeffrey completely, with some help from Olivia, Josh got some information connecting Jeffrey to San Cristobel. Not wanting to be the first to read it, Though he planned to give it to Cassie, when he saw how thrilled she was about moving in with Jeffrey, he got cold feet. Later, Olivia received divorce papers from Bill. Although he offered her a shoulder to cry on, Josh informed Olivia that's all it would be. Not long after, Josh admitted to Billy that it seemed like his whole life was falling apart. He then admitted that he didn't blame Billy for stumbling off the wagon. Billy reminded Josh that he also had an addiction: wild women. At that point, Billy left and Olivia came in. It wasn't long before she and Josh were locked in a kiss. In the meantime, Josh was becoming increasingly concerned about Jeffrey and finally broke into his room to snoop around. Finally he found something---a file which contained a photo of him and Richard together. At first conflicted about what to do, the decision became easier when Robards, the PI who originally dug up the information, called Josh to demand more money, or else he was going to Cassie with the info.

Figuring Cassie was better off hearing the truth from him, Josh headed to Cassie’s, where he presented her with Jeffrey’s dossier. However, Cassie refused to even look at the file and tossed it in the fire. Meanwhile in 2006, Olivia was continuing to see Frank while at the same time going after Josh and used her relationship with Frank to fuel Josh's jealousy. Although Josh, though Josh realized he was being played, he didn't seem to mind initially. Meanwhile there was some tension between Billy and Olivia. One day, when Josh came upon the pair arguing, Olivia suddenly burst into tears and ran into her arms.

Again, Josh figured out she was staging a scene for his benefit and called her on it. Olivia admitted that she was faking the tears, but confessed her hopes of reconnecting. Although Josh didn't comment on it, he did take her out for a drink. That day, as Josh stepped away from the table, Jonathan approached Olivia and started pumping her on information about Jeffrey. When he learned that Josh had a file on O'Neill, Jonathan ransacked the room and retrieved it. The mystery of who ransacked the apartment was explained when Cassie approached Josh and informed him that Jonathan was blackmailing her with whatever was in that file. The trouble was that neither Josh nor Cassie ever looked at what was in the file. To head Jonathan off at the pass, Cassie and Josh decided to do their own inquiry into Jeffrey. When Josh asked Cassie if she could face what they might find. Cassie assured him she could.

The pair then traveled to San Cristobel to the one man who might have the answers--Edmund. Edmund informed them that Jeffrey didn’t just look like Richard, he impersonated Richard - and he set up Dinah to impersonate Cassie! In the meantime, Reva was making no secret of her objection to Josh seeing Olivia. Her objection led to more than one argument with Olivia. Although Reva made her position perfectly clear to Josh, he was unwilling to listen to her since she was the one who left him. At the same time, the investigation into Jeffrey led to a dead end when Josh's friend at the CIA informed him that Jeffrey's file was sealed. Believing there was some kind of cover-up going on, Josh hired a pair of hackers to break into the government’s database and get the sealed files on Jeffrey’s work in San Cristobel. Immediately after, Olivia asked Josh to go ice skating with her--challenging him to have some fun and think about himself instead of helping everyone else.

Realizing that he had been spending too much time taking care of everyone else's problems, Josh informed Cassie that she was on her own in the investigation. Meanwhile, weeks later, Billy gave Josh a talking-to about Reva, telling Josh that he'd already blown his chance with Reva three times and besides she deserved more to be involved in another triangle with him and Olivia. Not long after, Olivia approached Josh with a confession. She stated that she could have prevented Billy from falling off the wagon that night but failed to stop it. Slightly taken aback, Josh assured her that it wasn't her fault--no one made Billy continue to drink; that was his doing. Soon after, Reva and Billy came in and tried to tell Josh their version of what happened. Fed up with the anti-Olivia brigade, Josh told them to mind their own business since it just sounded like they were attacking Olivia.

Later, Reva asked Josh to spend time with her on Valentine’s Day. He declined, pointing out that Reva spent the last year telling Josh she needed time to decide what she wanted. Well, now Josh did too. In the meantime, Josh had made it clear to Olivia that they were just friends, and so was surprised when she invited him to an inn for Valentine's Day. However, she quickly pointed out that she was looking into purchasing the inn and wanted to try out her investment. She also explained that he wasn't the only one invited--the Cooper family was coming as well. However, at the inn, Olivia couldn’t resist making an overture at Josh. Josh knew that he was being played again and cruelly told her that he would not let her ruin his life again. At home the next morning, Josh was surprised when Reva arrived with a bouquet of flowers for him. He admitted to her what happened the other night and confessed to feeling guilty for his harsh words toward Olivia. At that point, Olivia arrived and immediately exaggerated what happened at the inn for Reva's benefit. Soon the women began bickering again and Josh, fed up with how they both were trying to manipulate him, threw them out.

The next day, while out on a date with a woman, Josh overheard Jeffrey and Mel talking and discovered Jeffrey's secret--he'd impersonated Richard while with Cassie. Josh urged Jeffrey to tell Cassie the truth but stated that he wouldn't tell her, he was staying out of it. Meanwhile, Josh learned that Reva had been invited to Tulsa to deliver a speech at her old high school. Although she told him she wasn't going, she changed her mind and rode with Billy to Tulsa.

Upon learning from Jonathan that she'd gone, Josh went to see her to provide support. That night, as he was driving back home, Josh came across a crashed car--it was Billy's! Josh managed to get Reva out and administered mouth-to-mouth. While the ambulance arrived and worked on Reva, Josh tried to rescue Billy - only to come upon a half-empty bottle of bourbon. Horrified, Josh told Billy to go get himself checked out - and hid the bottle from the police. At the hospital, Billy tried to tell Josh what happened, but Josh interrupted and let Billy know that he saw the bottle. Billy swore that he’d quit, that this was his wake-up call, but Josh didn’t believe him. Suddenly, Billy turned their conversation around and accused Josh of playing games with Reva - of dating Olivia, then coming to Tulsa to see Reva. Billy’s passionate defense of Reva made Josh realize that his brother was in love with their mutual ex-wife.

Afterwards, Billy confessed to the police that he was DUI and was placed under arrest. At the same time, Reva had been released from the hospital and Josh convinced her to stay with him until she fully recovered. When Reva learned about Billy's arrest, she begged a reluctant Josh to save his brother. Josh finally agreed and pointed out to Frank that there was no physical evidence pointing to Billy being drunk that night and he'll swear that he was sober. Weeks later, Reva told Josh she wanted to move back home. When reminded that she shouldn’t be alone, she informed him that Billy would be moving in with her. Balking at that, Josh decided they were going to need someone to watch over both of them and volunteered to move back also. Weeks later, Josh decided to finally take a stand and do something about the state of his marriage--he had his lawyer draw up divorce papers. However, he didn't want them delivered; he'd pick them up when he was ready.

However, thanks to Billy the papers were delivered, right in front of Reva. Later, they were prepared to go ahead with the divorce when a series of events: such as Reva ending up in a fountain with Josh, their song playing, and the word "Always" chalked on the sidewalk gave them pause; until they saw a wedding bouquet identical to their own. Realizing that one coincidence was fate, but a half-dozen was a sister meddling, they called Cassie who admitted to setting it all up. Josh and Reva agree to go through with the divorce but at the signing, couldn't help remembering their marriage(s) - the ups as well as the downs. But they sign the papers, nonetheless. Later that night, they met on the Lighthouse Observation Deck where they finally talked everything out and spontaneously "remarried". Realizing they've always belonged together, and always will, they tore up the divorce papers.

Soon after, Josh was thrilled when Cassie returned Cross Creek to him (by selling Olivia her half of the Beacon) While Reva went to Paris to visit Marah, Josh, Cassie, and RJ went to the Cross Creek cabin to fix it up. There he suggested that Cassie come to work for him at Lewis. Soon after, Josh found blueprints of HB's detailing the building of a state of the art veteran's hospital in Tulsa, near Cross Creek. When Cassie helped Josh fulfill his father's dream, Josh hired her to work on the project. Upon returning to Springfield, Josh told Billy about HB's dream and asked him to help him. Getting more excited, Josh spirited Reva to the newly-decorated Cross Creek and told her the news.

Later, Billy told Josh the architect said that in order to build his veteran’s hospital the way he wanted to, they’d have to pave over Cross Creek, so Josh suggested they simply pick up the cabin and move it to Springfield. When it was moved, Josh wanted to surprise Reva and so he and Billy waited with the lights out, Then, Josh planted a passionate kiss on the woman who walked in the door--Cassie. Josh was easily able to shake off the mistake. In the meantime, Josh wanted this to be a family affair with Reva helping. Unfortunately, Reva continuously kept making excuses as to why she couldn't help. Josh was easily able to shake off the mistake. In the meantime, Josh wanted this to be a family affair with Reva helping. Unfortunately, Reva continuously kept making excuses as to why she couldn't help. At the same time, Josh was working closer and closer with Cassie. When she surprised him by telling him maybe he shouldn't come around so much so RJ wouldn't get dependent on him as a father figure, Josh pointed out that he was the only stable father figure RJ ever had. Seeing his logic, Cassie took it back and Josh assured her he'd always be there for her and RJ. Not long after, when RJ got in trouble at school, he called the school call Josh instead of his mom.

That day, after suspecting that Reva had lied about seeing Jonathan, Josh bonded with RJ by helping him build a model volcano. As for Reva, she kept making excuse after excuse (her favorite one being Jonathan) about why should couldn't attend meetings with him. Though Josh suspected she was pulling away, she denied it but she wouldn't tell him what was wrong. Then one day, one pleading with her to attend a luncheon meeting with him,, Josh was upset to learn that Reva had plans with Billy. That same day, Reva shocked Josh with the news that she was leaving town. Reva explained that she had to go to Minnesota for a story in the hopes of getting back into WSPR. She also planned on visiting Dylan, her father, and Marah. (in Minnesota, Oklahoma, and France!) Put off by weeks of brush offs, Josh finally exploded and branded Reva as selfish. It only got worse when he learned that Reva was going on her whirlwind adventure with none other than Billy. That night, Josh spoke with Marah and learned that Reva had never mentioned a visit to Paris. The next day, a visibly upset Josh tried working from the cabin but found that he couldn’t.

After smashing Reva’s picture, Josh made plans to leave Springfield and work on the project in Oklahoma. The next day, a still upset Josh informed Billy of the news. Billy tried to convince Josh that he should stay, stating that everything would be fine when Reva came home but Josh wouldn't hear it. Billy tried to tell him that Reva was just being Reva and he needed to be Josh. But Josh yelled that he was tired of waiting and tired of not knowing what was going on. During their conversation, Billy slipped and Told Josh that Reva was just visiting a friend in Minnesota. That slip got Josh thinking--the stories didn't match. Reva told everyone she was covering a news story. That meant she or Billy (or possibly both) were lying Josh became more suspicous than ever that Reva was hiding something. Later, after a talk with Billy, about Reva, Josh peeked at Billy’s cell phone and found Reva’s contact number. Although he briefly considered calling her, he decided he didn’t have the energy to go chasing after Reva again. As time went on, Josh became more and more upset that Reva was gone; the only thing that abated his anger was being with Cassie. Cassie, though, was adamant that Josh find Reva and repair his marriage.

Later, Cassie admitted that she tried calling Reva but wound up talking to Billy who wouldn’t tell her where they were. Reva and Billy were lying to them again. Soon after, Reva finally called Josh. Still angry, Josh tersely asked if she was coming home. When she started to give an excuse as to why she couldn’t, Josh bitterly ended the call. Afterwards, he shared a dance with Cassie at the summer festival, where all his anger at Reva went away. Then one day, Cassie announced to Josh that they had to go to New York right away in order to talk to a sponsor for the veteran’s hospital. In her desperation to get Josh to the airport, Cassie haphazardly threw his luggage in her trunk, with the strap hanging out. She was pulled over by a policeman and when she opened the trunk; to put the strap back in, Josh noticed that Cassie had no luggage. Cornered, Cassie was forced to confess her deception—they weren’t going to New York; she was putting him on a plane to Minnesota to see Reva.

Again Josh refused to chase after Reva and when he badgered Cassie about why he should go, she blurted out that she had feelings for him. Cassie immediately apologized but a speechless Josh told her not to; he had them too. The next day, Josh received a call from Billy and demanded to know what was going on with him and Reva and why couldn’t he talk to her. Again, Billy was tight-lipped and an upset Josh informed Billy that from now on Reva was his (Billy’s) responsibility. A few days later, Josh was unnerved to learn that Cassie was going away with Jeffrey for the weekend. Josh strenuously objected and tried to convince Cassie that she'd be making the biggest mistake of her life if she went back to Jeffrey.

Not appreciating Josh sticking his nose where it didn't belong, Jeffrey, Cassie and Josh argued with Josh finally carrying Cassie away to his car. Though Cassie begged him to let her go, he left her in the locked car until they talked over their feelings. During the course of their conversation, Josh admitted that it would be easier to love her than to love Reva but they both agreed that nothing could happen between them. Not long after, Cassie canceled her plans with Jeffrey but kept trying to avoiding Josh. However, Josh kept seeking her out. Soon after, while Tammy was hospitalized for minor injuries after being caught in a botched robbery, Josh got another call from Reva. Unfortunately, hearing her voice only fueled his anger and the conversation was tense.

Soon after, while Jeffrey was solicitation sponsors for his campaign for mayor, he and Josh ended up in an argument that turned into a scuffle. (Though neither would admit it the underlying cause was their feelings for Cassie) Later, that night, while Josh was at the farmhouse with Cassie, the power suddenly went out. Though Josh offered to help and suggested she spend the night at his place, Cassie stubbornly refused. Finally, she allowed him to check the fuse box but while he was fumbling around the wires in the dark, he ended up burning himself. As Cassie helped treat his wounds, the closeness between them became unbearable and she went out for a swim to cool down. While swimming she had a cramp and suddenly went under. Luckily, Josh arrived looking for her and saved her from drowning. In the water together, Josh and Cassie gave in to their desires and shared a raw, passionate kiss. The kiss rattled them both but when Cassie suggested she and RJ leave Springfield, Josh begged her to stay since he couldn’t lose her as well. Then they kissed again but were spotted by Tammy. When Tammy demanded to know what was going on, both Cassie and Josh shrugged it off as nothing. Later, an unwelcome Billy unexpectedly showed up at Josh’s and to stop Josh from making the biggest mistake of his life. Josh immediately became defensive and demanded that Billy stick his nose out of his marriage.

After blasting Billy for continually taking Reva’s side, Josh railed about how Reva left him without looking back and if she had a problem she had no one to blame but herself. Billy tried to tell Josh to call Reva, but Josh stated that he had and she never answered. The more Billy tried to convince Josh to wait for Reva, the angrier Josh got. Finally, Billy warned Josh not to do anything hasty without having all the facts (then frustrating Josh by not giving him any) When Billy tried to tell Josh that Reva loved him, a furious Josh admitted that he always loved Reva but he didn’t know what was going on with her. Soon after, Blake surprised Josh by telling him that she knew about him and Cassie and felt that he should go for it since Reva wasn’t around. Though the conversation was making Josh very uncomfortable since it really wasn’t any of her business, Blake went on to remind him how she stole Ross from her mom, and she was so glad that they did something so wrong because it led to many happy years together. Afterwards, Josh saw Billy again and demanded to use his cell phone to call Reva. He got her answering machine and told her he didn't care who was right or who was wrong; he wanted to talk to her. Soon after, Josh was shocked to see Reva on Main Street!

He tried to chase after her but was stopped by Jonathan who told Josh that it was just his imagination and told him just to call Reva. Josh shot back that he was tired of putting his life on hold for Reva. He then headed to the farm to talk to Cassie. However, when he got there, he was shocked to find a For Sale sign. After talking to RJ’s babysitter, Mrs. Chitwood, Josh was given a note from Cassie that informed him that she was moving to San Cristobel. Frantic, Josh raced to the airport where he was shocked to come face to face with Reva. Speechless, all Josh could say was "It’s you." At that point, Reva just waved and boarded a plane, without a word. At that point, Josh decided he had to make a choice—to try to find out where his wife was going or move forward with his life. Josh chose the later and flew to San Cristobel to find Cassie.

In San Cristobel, Josh told Cassie about his encounter at the airport and made it clear that he chose Cassie, with the pair sharing a passionate kiss. After leaving a message for Reva telling her their marriage was through, Josh and Cassie went public with their relationship. Expecting people to criticize both Cassie and Josh got defensive with Buzz when he just mentioned Reva's name. Later, things got rockier when Hawk spotted them together in a kiss on Main Street. Hawk immediately lit into the pair and blasted both of them for betraying Reva. Hawk went on to tell the pair that Reva was in New York and did not look well—and now he knew the reason. Josh boastfully maintained that couldn’t be reason since Reva didn’t even know about him and Cassie. Josh tried to defend himself by placing the blame on Reva but his words only disgusted Hawk who walked away Cassie went to Josh and suggested that they cool things down until he spoke to Reva personally.

Later that night, the pair ran into Tammy and Jonathan and were shocked when Tammy announced they were engaged. After reacting warmly to the news, Cassie happily announced her and Josh's relationship. Jonathan, however, did not react warmly to that news. In fact, he was so upset he could barely talk. Josh went as far as to ask Jonathan why should he care about Reva, but Jonathan had no answer. The next day, Hawk confronted Josh and Cassie again when their relationship was implied on an internet website called SpringfieldBurns. (It contained a picture of Cassie, Josh, and RJ with the caption "Who's your Daddy?) Unfortunately, RJ came in during the argument. Cassie or Josh hadn't told RJ about the relationship yet but Hawk didn't know that and let it slip as he was comforting the boy. RJ got upset at his mother's secret and refused to talk to his mother. His anger finally softened though days later when Josh took him to Richard's grave. Soon after, Josh and Cassie prepared to make love but were stopped from a call from Reva: she was in town and wanted to talk to Josh.

When Cassie told Josh that Reva probably wanted him back, he responded that he was going to tell Reva everything and wanted to know why she left. However, nothing would change how he felt about Cassie. Unfortunately, Josh didn’t get the answers he wanted. At the cabin, Reva bitterly revealed to him that she knew about him and Cassie. Josh immediately defended himself by pointing out that she could not be reached. He ranted that Reva was selfish and reckless and always leaving him behind. Reva was not very apologetic during his tirade though and surprised him by saying that she came to town earlier to tell him something important and she found him groping her sister at the Greek festival. She then mentioned that she knew the military would be honoring him in New York. Reva sarcastically talked about how Josh would be complimented about what an honorable man he is; when they both knew the truth. Reva’s disgust only fueled Josh’s anger and he pointed out that he wanted her but she just shut him out and disappeared. He then reminded her of their promise up at the Lighthouse, a promise he now felt stupid for believing.

When Josh called Reva selfish and cruel, she accused him of wanting to be cruel back but he denied it. He maintained that he needed a shoulder to lean on and Cassie was there. Reva could barely take the excuses without laughing and accused Josh of going after a younger woman with a pretty face, which angered Josh even more. He stated that he and Cassie hadn’t even had sex yet, that they had was deeper than that. Later, Josh learned that Cassie had her own confrontation with Reva. While Josh and Cassie commiserated over their respective encounters with Reva, Josh admitted that he didn't think Reva was having an affair with Billy--she would not have been so self-righteous if that was the case. When Cassie lamented that Reva all but called her a slut, he told her not to feel ashamed.

Though Josh and Reva are not currently together, it is almost certain they will eventually reunite.
